Research Associate – Language and Literacy Research, Evaluation

Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC) Specialist

Role Description Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC) Network Consultants (Specialists) work in communities providing direct in-person and virtual support to center-based administrators, teachers, staff, and home-based care providers. IECMHC Network Specialists are matched with assignments based on geographic location, areas of expertise, individualized program needs, and consultant availability. The IECMHC Network team coordinates the referral and intake processes with programs and providers. It also provides resources and an array of supports for IECMHC Network Specialists, including individual and group reflective practice. IECMHC Network Specialists adopt the Consultative Stance in applying diversity-informed, reflective, and relationship-based approaches to collaborating with home-based providers, center-based staff, and program leaders to build their capacity to: - Respond effectively to children’s developmental, social, emotional, and behavioral health needs. - Consider all relationships influencing young children’s relational health and well-being, adult-child relationships, and those amongst the adults caring for children. - Engage in self-reflection about personal values, perceptions, beliefs, culture, and connections between adult’s feelings and behavior and children’s feelings and behavior. - Reframe children’s behavior to problem solve and practice new ways of responding to children’s needs. - Gain knowledge and skills in understanding the impact of trauma on young children and develop a trauma-responsive lens to inform their approaches working with young children and their families. - Develop inclusive and equitable policies and procedures that reflect a commitment to serving all children and families. - Promote staff/provider health and well-being by attending to their feelings and experiences within the context of their relational work and interactions with young children and their families. - Increase awareness and connection to community resources. Consultant hours are intermittent and will vary based on program needs and consultant availability. Qualifications - Master’s degree in social work, psychology, mental health, counseling, early childhood special education, early childhood education, or child development, and/or a closely related field. - Clinical licensure or license eligible preferred but not required. - At least 3 years experience providing consultation, coaching, and/or technical assistance with child care and early education staff/providers. - At least 2 years providing and receiving reflective practice. - Experience working directly in a child care or early education setting with children birth through five years old and their families. - Experience working with home-based providers, including family child care home providers and family, friend, and neighbor caregivers. - Ability to provide relationship- and strength-based consultation using inquiry and reflective practices. - Knowledge of social, emotional, and relational health, and fostering the well-being of young children and the adults who care for them. - Knowledge of trauma-responsive practices and policies in child care and early education settings. - Knowledge of community resources for children ages birth to five and their families. - Knowledge of inclusive practices and IDEA and ADA requirements. - Endorsement in Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health and Reflective Practice Facilitation. - Travel possibility up to 20%. Temporary Reading Apprenticeship Facilitator

Role Description Reading Apprenticeship Essentials provides an introduction to the Reading Apprenticeship framework and its impact on student motivation and achievement, with an emphasis on participants’ practicing Reading Apprenticeship routines in the classroom. Reading Apprenticeship Essentials professional learning is facilitated both in person and digitally. Online facilitators are responsible for guiding participants through the learning experience during synchronous video calls, responding thoughtfully and timely to participant posts in Canvas, sensing and responding to individual and group needs, and modeling best practices as an online facilitator. Position Overview: This is an opportunity to join our team and lead components of large projects that involve working with school behavioral health leaders to implement comprehensive multi-tiered school behavioral systems. In this role, you will serve as a project or task lead, managing project scope, timelines, and deliverables, and contributing to budget and resource planning. This position is focused on leading technical assistance and content development related to data-based decision making using social, emotional, and behavioral data within MTSS frameworks. You will coordinate and guide teams composed of WestEd staff and collaborators to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of project goals, while working both independently and in consultation with senior leaders. You will engage directly with clients and partners at the state, county, and district levels, contributing to the development of high-impact resources, tools, and presentations, and supporting visibility of the work through meetings, convenings, and conferences. This role may also contribute to proposal development and strategic planning for new and existing projects. Familiarity with California school behavioral health policy is preferred. What We’re Looking For Our ideal candidate understands the role of technical assistance and evaluation as it relates to school-based behavioral health systems, mental/behavioral health intervention and assessment, culturally responsive and sustainable practice, data-based decision-making, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.We are seeking a candidate who: - Master’s or doctoral degree in school psychology, social work, child and adolescent behavioral health, psychology, education, special education, educational leadership, or another related field. - 5+ years experience coordinating and/or leading technical assistance for schools and/or districts to implement school behavioral health supports and services within a MTSS/PBIS framework. - Fluent with social, behavioral, and emotional data (e.g., universal screening), as well as practices and systems to support school behavioral health progress monitoring, evaluation, and decision making. - Experience leading resource development including briefs, presentations, and tools to support implementation. - Excellent communicator that can convey complex, technical ideas clearly and effectively to implementers, policymakers, and other key partners. - Team-oriented and an excellent collaborator, while also being able to take initiative and work independently. - Strategic thinker, with an ability to solve problems, identify opportunities, and generate next steps. - Experience managing projects, timelines, and deliverables and working with state or regional education agencies.
