Role Description The Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program at UAMS Medical Center engages in an action reflection model of learning, which is central to the CPE experience. The Chaplain Resident is involved in direct patient care. It is this experience and reflection on actual pastoral encounters that fosters the chaplain’s learning. At UAMS Medical Center trainees are involved with people from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. Trainees are assigned to specific areas, function as ecumenical chaplains, and are responsible for providing pastoral care to patients, families, and staff. Trainees attend interdisciplinary meetings and participate with other professionals in providing patient care. Chaplain trainees also share on-call responsibilities, which provide learning opportunities in the midst of developing health care crises. The Chaplain Resident will report to the Director of Pastoral Care and Clinical Pastoral Education Training Programs. - Salary offered commensurate with experience. - Holidays as per the UAMS Holiday schedule. - 24 hour on-call required minimally once per week. Role Description The Audit & Billing Compliance Specialist works under the general direction of the Clinical Billing Compliance Director and reviews medical records and billing system programs to determine coding and billing accuracy and to ensure that all federal and state guidelines for coding and billing are followed. - Conducts inpatient and outpatient coding and billing audit functions according to the audit plan schedule with a focus on hospital billing according to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Systems (CMS) laws and regulations. - Provides education and training to coding staff as well as ancillary department staff. Role Description We are seeking applications for a part-time Student Research Assistant position as part of an NIH-funded research project in Dr. Kristen Muller’s research lab in the Department of Audiology & Speech Pathology. The project evaluates the feasibility of using eye-tracking technology to measure word understanding skills in autistic children who are non-speaking or minimally verbal. This position is an opportunity to learn about and contribute to research on autism, language assessment, and eye-tracking. This position is set to begin in Summer 2026. Start date is flexible depending on availability. Requirements - Develop and maintain data governance and quality processes for pharmacy-related systems and reports. - Develop and maintain medication-related databases, including the infusion pump library, formulary master list, and inventory database. - Standardize, structure, and model data to support a data-driven culture and accurate business intelligence reporting. - Maintain interoperability and integration between medication-use systems, analytics platforms, and enterprise data warehouses. - Ensure medication-related information is accurate, timely, complete, and consistent across all systems. - Collaborate with IT, clinical, and operational teams to validate data integrity and align informatics initiatives with enterprise standards. - Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, scorecards, and visualization tools. - Conduct descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to evaluate operational efficiency, resource utilization, and clinical outcomes. - Provide analytics that support drug budget management, formulary optimization, medication-use evaluation, and population health initiatives. - Partner with finance and operations leaders to model cost-saving and revenue-generating strategies. - Monitor tool performance and end-user adoption; continuously enhance usability and accessibility of analytics solutions. - Translate pharmacy practice requirements into functional specifications for informatics and analytics systems. - Implement and optimize clinical decision support tools to improve patient safety and provider efficiency. - Participate in system upgrades, configuration, testing, and change management for pharmacy applications. - Lead or contribute to informatics projects that enhance medication-use processes, automation, and documentation workflows. - Support applied research in informatics and analytics to drive innovation and continuous improvement. - Other duties as assigned. Role Description The Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist is responsible for improving overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation to ensure that the information in the medical record accurately reflects the patient's severity of illness, clinical needs, and utilization of resources. - This position is responsible for reviewing death medical records to ensure the severity of illness and risk of mortality has been captured at the highest level. - This position works with the providers of care to capture the clinical care in a code format for reimbursement and to ensure UAMS has the correct case mix. - Reviews all admission types to the hospital to ensure severity is captured and then educates the providers of care on admission types. Qualifications - Registered Nurse (RN) with current license plus 4 years inpatient clinical experience in Emergency, Critical Care, or Medical/Surgical area with experience in Quality, Case Management, Clinical Audit, or Data Abstraction OR Coding professional with CCS certification and 6 years of inpatient coding experience with documented education in anatomy/physiology and pharmacology. - CCDS is required within 6 months of hire. - Current CCDS (preferred). Requirements - Applies extensive clinical knowledge to read and analyze health record documentation, identifying all significant diagnoses, treatment, and procedures impacting acuity level and resources consumed throughout the current hospitalization. - Applies knowledge of disease processes, surgical procedures, UHDDS definitions, and the CMS/NCHS ICD-10 Official Coding Guidelines for Coding and Reporting to assign non-indexed terms to the appropriate class within the ICD-10 coding classification system. - Reviews all death medical records and works with Vizient calculator to ensure risk of mortality and severity of illness scores are correct. - Interacts directly with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, coding staff, and other members of the health care team to facilitate clarification of clinical documentation and transfer of knowledge related to accurate documentation, coding, and reimbursement practices. - Develops and facilitates education related to clinical documentation improvement, coding guidelines, and regulatory requirements to all members of the healthcare team through one-on-one communication and classroom or large group presentations throughout the year as assigned. - Performs other duties as assigned.
