Network Reliability Engineer Location: Temporarily Remote; Denver, CO office planned The Details: Palomar is seeking a Network Reliability Engineer to design, operate, and continuously improve the reliability, security, and performance of its enterprise network. This role establishes dedicated ownership of network infrastructure across multiple office locations and cloud environments, ensuring the network can securely scale to support business growth, new features, and ongoing expansion. This is a hands-on individual contributor role requiring a self-starter who is comfortable taking end-to-end ownership of network initiatives. The role is responsible for modernizing network infrastructure, building tools and automation to support scalable and repeatable networking operations, implementing proactive monitoring, and reducing operational and security risk associated with network connectivity. The position includes regular travel to office locations to refresh and replace network equipment, perform initial configuration and deployment, and ensure consistent implementation of network standards across the organization. What will you do: Design, implement, and maintain a reliable and secure enterprise network across multiple office locations and cloud environments Modernize and standardize network infrastructure, including firewalls, routing, VPNs, wireless, and network segmentation Establish proactive monitoring, alerting, and performance visibility for all network assets Optimize network performance and availability to support employee productivity and return-to-office initiatives Implement secure network architectures to support internally developed cloud applications, including firewall rules, access controls, and routing policies Develop automation for network provisioning and device onboarding (e.g., laptops, printers, office infrastructure) to improve consistency and scalability Manage and maintain relationships with network vendors and service providers, ensuring platforms are updated and protected against known vulnerabilities Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents, performance issues, and connectivity problems across offices and cloud environments Maintain network documentation, standards, and operational runbooks Partner with security, infrastructure, and application teams to align network design with broader technology and security What we are looking for: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or relevant experience 4 plus years relevant experience in Networking. 3 plus years of experience in some combination of cloud security, infrastructure security, penetration testing, firewall management, network security, security tools, architecture review. Experience with core networking concepts, including routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networking Exposure to multi-site or hybrid environments, including basic cloud networking concepts Experience troubleshooting network connectivity and performance issues Familiarity with network monitoring tools and basic automation or scripting concepts Experience working with vendors or service providers under guidance Desire to grow into greater ownership of network reliability, security, and optimization Proven experience designing and operating enterprise network environments Strong understanding of network routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls, and wireless technologies Experience managing firewall platforms and enforcing network security controls (Fortigate Cloud, Rukus, Cisco, Azure, and Versa) Experience with cloud networking concepts (preferably Azure), including hybrid connectivity Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues across on-premises and cloud environments Experience working with network monitoring and alerting tools Strong documentation and operational discipline Ability to work independently and take ownership of a critical infrastructure domain. To be compliant with local legislation as well as provide greater transparency to candidates, we disclose salary ranges on all job postings regardless of the desired job location. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and the opportunity for annual long-term incentive stock grants. In addition, we offer a highly competitive benefits package. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and qualifications, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
