• Communicate with stakeholders to determine institutional goals, and design analyses and data visualizations to provide insight to complex business problems. • Conduct exploratory data analysis in collaboration with subject matter experts to build and validate analytical datasets. • Develop statistical and machine learning models (classification, time series, etc.) using a custom python framework to generate scores and forecasts. • Present predictive modeling results and operational dashboards to end-users at colleges and universities to help them understand and make use of the findings and scores. • Work with data science and data engineering teams to build data pipelines, improve internal systems, and deploy and maintain models in a production environment. • Collaborate with other data scientists to share knowledge, develop best practices, and contribute to documentation, process standardization, and product development. • Occasionally travel (typically 1-3 days at a time, ~3 times per year) to HelioCampus offices and client sites for meetings and presentations.

How You'll Help: As a Data Engineer II, you will be a key architect in building and maintaining our specialized higher education data warehouse. You will ensure that institutional data is reliable, high-performing, and delivered in a timely manner, directly enabling university leaders to make informed, strategic decisions. What You Will Do: - Develop: Design, build, and deploy robust ETL/ELT solutions using SQL and Python. - Test & Deploy: Perform comprehensive unit testing and participate in code reviews to ensure data integrity and system reliability. - Analyze: Monitor and evaluate pipeline performance trends to proactively prevent bottlenecks and system failures. - Troubleshoot: Diagnose and resolve complex ETL issues in real-time, identifying root causes to prevent recurrence. - Collaborate: Work closely with analysts and senior engineers to expand reporting models that meet evolving university goals. You Will Be a Good Fit For This Role If You Have: - Previous experience in the Higher Education or EdTech sector. - 3+ years of professional experience specifically in ETL/SQL development and data engineering. - Expertise in SQL: Strong proficiency in developing complex queries, analyzing data, and managing system integrations. - Data Architecture Knowledge: A solid understanding of data warehouse concepts, structures, and dimensional modeling. - Coding Proficiency: Experience with at least one object-oriented programming language (Python, Java, etc.). - An Analytical Mindset: The ability to think on your fly and approach technical challenges with a solution-oriented focus. - Autonomy: A drive to explore technical hurdles and find solutions with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. How You'll Help: We are seeking a Data Analyst to join our team of higher education data experts. The analyst will work closely with multiple client partners to understand their analytical needs, evaluate key performance metrics, and analyze trends. The ideal candidate will possess superior technical ability and a strong background in analyzing enrollment, student success, and financial data, with prior experience working directly with university clients. Strong communication and relationship management skills are a must. What You Will Do: - Develop subject matter expertise in the HelioCampus data platform and guide client partners in the use of the platform to answer strategic and operational institutional questions. - Deploy and configure dashboards, reports, and visualizations to effectively communicate insights and recommendations to university partners. - Conduct analysis of higher education data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement. You Will Be a Good Fit For This Role If You Have: - A minimum of 3 years of experience performing analytic functions in higher education or working as a consultant in higher education. - Experience working in one or more key areas of higher education (e.g. student financials, financial aid, admissions, advancement, student affairs, enrollment management). - Experience summarizing and presenting data analysis to business leaders, which includes making recommendations to meet client strategic goals and objectives. - Innate curiosity and an interest in helping to advance institutions of higher education. - Experience building and fostering productive relationships with clients by using active listening to identify client needs and develop a path for success. - Experience working with data from one or more Student Information Systems (e.g. Banner, PeopleSoft, Colleague, Workday). - Experience working closely with technical development teams, Institutional Research, and Information Technology staff. - Significant experience working in Power BI and/or Tableau to manipulate, analyze and present data and to develop dashboards and reports. - Familiarity with data warehouse concepts, relational databases, and experience working with large data sets. - Foundational understanding of SQL and/or one or more analytic/programming software packages such as R, SAS, Python, and knowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms.
