Through strategic partnerships with utilities, non-profits, EPCs, and government agencies, we deploy distributed energy resources (DERs) at residential and small C&I sites to build virtual power plants (VPPs) at scale. Overview We’re looking for a Head of Direct Sales to own and grow Haven’s sales engine. You’ll lead a high-performing sales team, build the processes that optimize execution, and use data as your primary tool for coaching, accountability, and growth. The right candidate is a modern revenue operator — someone with energy sector fluency, a builder’s mindset, and a hands-on approach to every challenge. What you’ll do - Sales Team Leadership - Lead, coach, train, and develop a high-performing sales team in a fast-paced environment - Set clear expectations, run effective cadences, and hold the team accountable to monthly and quarterly results - Build a culture of transparency, hustle, and continuous improvement - Sales Planning - Recruit and onboard top talent while optimizing team structure as the organization scales - Plan team infrastructure to address dynamic programs, regions, and market needs - Effectively convert leads from a multi-channel acquisition approach — from direct mail and cold outreach to database mining and coordinated marketing campaigns - Data-Driven Performance Management - Own the sales dashboard — build it, maintain it, and use it to run the business - Translate data into clear initiatives that motivate the team and diagnose performance issues early - Lead weekly and monthly business reviews grounded in meaningful metrics, not vanity stats - Revenue Strategy - Partner with leadership to set and refine revenue targets, forecasts, and growth strategies - Identify market opportunities and translate them into actionable sales plays - Collaborate cross-functionally on pricing, product positioning, and go-to-market decisions - Training & Process Ownership - Own and continuously improve sales processes; partner cross-functionally to iterate fast - Maintain operational infrastructure — CRM, phone and SMS platforms — and drive tooling improvements as needs evolve - Create team training materials, coach and develop effectively, and ensure consistent delivery across the organization What we are Looking For - 8+ years leading a direct-to-consumer sales team and driving measurable results - 5+ years experience in solar, energy storage, or adjacent clean energy — you speak the language, understand the product landscape, and build trust quickly with teams and customers - Genuine data fluency — you pull your own reports, build your own views, and never wait on someone else to answer a question the data can - Builder’s mindset: you’ve created processes and playbooks from scratch, not just inherited them - Demonstrated expertise across the full sales org — inside sales, outside sales, SDRs — with strong lead conversion across multiple channels - Strong communicator who can turn complex data into a story anyone can act on What WIll Set You Apart - You’re energized by building structure where little exists — not just maintaining what’s already working - You actively leverage AI tooling, from dashboards to presentations - You’ve thrived in growth-stage environments where resourcefulness and adaptability matter as much as experience - You operate independently inside a CRM or BI tool — HubSpot, Metabase, or similar — no analyst required - You’re known for making your team better, not just your own numbers - You have a healthy obsession with data-driven results — close rates, pipeline conversion, and lead optimization What This Role Is Not This role isn’t for someone who leans on a traditional solar sales playbook, expects a defined territory and quota structure handed to them, or needs established infrastructure before contributing. Summary of Role The Head of Marketing will lead Haven Energy’s marketing strategy and execution, with a focus on building a scalable, high-performance demand engine that drives customer acquisition and revenue growth. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for developing and optimizing full-funnel marketing programs in a dynamic and evolving market environment. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in performance marketing, strong analytical rigor, and a track record of building efficient growth engines in complex, highly competitive categories. You will partner cross-functionally across sales, product, operations, and external stakeholders to translate market opportunities into measurable business outcomes. This role is a true player–coach position. You will operate as the architect of Haven’s growth engine while also executing critical components directly. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable setting strategy, building scalable systems, and getting into the details such as launching campaigns, analyzing performance, and iterating quickly. What you’ll do: - Marketing Strategy & Execution - Define and evolve Haven’s go-to-market strategy, including positioning, messaging, channel mix, and investment priorities - Balance short-term performance with long-term brand and market development - Lead integrated campaigns across multiple channels and customer touchpoints - Own external communications, PR strategy and execution. - Oversee creative strategy, messaging, and testing across channels. - Demand Generation & Performance Optimization - Optimize and scale a multi-channel demand generation engine to drive customer acquisition and pipeline growth - Own performance across digital and offline channels, continuously improving efficiency and scalability - Develop full-funnel strategies that improve conversion from initial engagement through closed business - Establish a rigorous testing and optimization framework across campaigns, creative, and user experience - Continuously improve conversion rates, cost efficiency, and overall marketing ROI in low-volume, high-precision environments. - Partner with internal teams to optimize the end-to-end customer journey - Analytics & Measurement - Leverage data to inform segmentation, personalization, and campaign performance - Define KPIs tied to pipeline and revenue outcomes - Build dashboards and reporting frameworks to inform executive decision-making - Partner & Program Marketing - Lead marketing collaboration with utility and strategic partners, working closely with their marketing teams to: - Build program branding and positioning - Design, launch, and execute joint marketing campaigns - Align messaging with partner goals and customer expectations - Navigate complex operating environments, ensuring alignment and execution across multiple parties - Represent Haven as a trusted, capable marketing partner to external stakeholders - Team & Agency Management - Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing marketing team - Establish clear processes, accountability, and execution cadence both for internal teams and external agencies, vendors, and contractors as needed - Optimize resource allocation to efficiently enable Haven’s high growth goals Must haves - 8–12+ years of D2C marketing experience, with prior ownership of company-wide marketing strategy. - Demonstrated ability to operate as a hands-on leader in a high-growth or resource-constrained environment - Deep experience executing and optimizing campaigns directly—not solely through agencies or large teams - Comfortable switching between strategy, execution, and analysis on a daily basis - Experience leveraging AI tools to drive outcomes and efficiency - Proven success operating in highly targeted or geographically constrained markets - Comfortable operating with ambiguity, constraints, and small audience sizes - Strong collaborator who can influence without authority—internally and externally - Data-driven decision maker with a practical approach to attribution and ROI - Mission-aligned and motivated by building systems that deliver real-world impact - Experience scaling high-growth or early-stage companies Preferred experience - Experience in residential solar, energy storage, or home electrification - Experience working with strategic partners (e.g., utilities, large enterprises, public sector, or regulated entities) on joint marketing initiatives - Experience marketing to low income and/or immigrant populations - Experience designing for and running multi-lingual campaigns - Familiarity with marketing in geographically or operationally complex environments - Hold an MBA or equivalent advanced degree Why Join Us?
