Role Description Focus Partners Wealth is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to join our team! The Tax Senior Associate is responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, supporting tax planning initiatives, and ensuring compliance for high-net-worth individuals, families, and related entities. This role partners with internal teams on tax research and planning, assists in staff development, and helps communicate tax updates to clients. The ideal candidate has experience with individual and entity tax returns, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service. - Tax planning and preparation for high-net-worth individuals and their related entities; - Performing first reviews on certain individual and fiduciary returns; - Ensuring compliance with all federal and state filing requirements on behalf of clients; - Acting as a resource to business management teams for tax planning, tax research, and ongoing education of tax-related developments; - Assisting Tax Managers with regularly educating permanent and seasonal tax preparation staff; - Assisting with communicating relevant tax developments to clients through newsletters, social media, and/or other communications. Qualifications - A Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with 3+ years’ relevant experience; - A demonstrated focus on preparing individual, fiduciary, partnership and S-corp tax returns with a primary focus on high-net-worth individuals and families; - Superb written and verbal communication skills; strong problem solving, technology, communication and organizational skills; - Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, and proven ability to learn other technology; - Notable attention to detail, self-initiated follow-through, and outstanding time management; - Ability to work individually and in a team atmosphere; - The willingness and ability to work additional hours, as needed, during busy season. Requirements - CPA, CPA candidate or EA granting the ability to represent clients before the IRS; - Experience preparing multi-state returns; - Experience with ProSystem fx® Tax, CCH Axcess, CCH Workflow, Engagement and BNA Income Tax™ Planner. Benefits - The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $80,000 - $100,000 per year base salary compensation range; - Actual base pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant’s skill set; - The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package; - Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k).
• Lead tax planning, compliance, and advisory services for high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, estates, private foundations, closely held businesses, and related entities, including extensions, quarterly estimates, projections, and year-end planning; • Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for accuracy, technical quality, planning opportunities, and compliance with applicable filing requirements; • Serve as a tax resource to wealth advisors by identifying tax planning opportunities that align with clients financial, estate, charitable, and investment objectives; • Research and analyze complex tax issues, prepare clear recommendations, and communicate technical conclusions to clients, advisors, and internal stakeholders; • Manage client engagements from planning through delivery, including workflow, deadlines, review processes, prioritization, and coordination with permanent and seasonal tax staff; • Build and maintain trusted client relationships by providing proactive communication, high-quality service, and timely responses to client and advisor inquiries; • Collaborate with wealth management teams to integrate strategic income tax, estate and gift tax, charitable giving, stock option, multi-state and retirement planning considerations into client recommendations. • Supervise, mentor, train, and review the work of tax professionals, including providing feedback, technical guidance, and support during busy season; • Assist Tax Leadership with developing internal tax education, process improvements, and practice standards that support consistent, high-quality client service; • Monitor relevant tax law developments and assist with communicating timely planning insights to advisors and clients through newsletters, presentations, social media, and other client communications.
• Provide leadership throughout the Focus Partners Wealth office integration process. • Deliver a high level of service and a consistent experience to teams integrating into the Focus Partners Wealth culture. • Provide in-depth training and support on Focus Partners Wealth tools, processes, and resources. • Support day-to-day integration operations for Focus Partners Wealth acquisitions, from due diligence through the acquisition date. • Maintain a strong understanding of custodial relationships with Fidelity, Pershing, and Schwab. • Advocate for integrating teams and identify opportunities for improvement where applicable. • Ensure timely delivery of reports, documentation, and planning materials needed by Advisors and integration stakeholders. • Contribute to recurring meetings with team leaders and ad hoc check-ins focused on operational efficiency. • Create training and development plans for new or existing Integration team members.
• Develop, revise, and present financial plans through planning software • Knowledge of tax, estate, and insurance planning • Develops a mastery of Focus Partners Wealth’s (FPW) investment philosophy • Create holistic investment strategy for each client, monitor risk tolerance over time as needed • Develop an understanding of the fundamentals of trading. Partner with the Portfolio Management team to approve and execute portfolios, trade recommendations, tax loss harvesting, etc. • Mastery of technology stack offered, including CRM system and custodian websites • Resource and collaboration with other Associate Wealth Advisors (AWAs) • Ability to independently lead client communications and interactions • Diligent recording of client communication and information within client relationship management platform • Service as the day-to-day contact for client needs and collaborate with team members to ensure the highest level of client service • Complete client billing reviews and ensure compliance for the advisory team • Engage in advisory team business planning efforts and actively support the firm’s strategic priorities • The ability to meet with clients in person. Some travel may be required
