• Develop the editorial, creative, production, and operational blueprint for COURIER’s live events (town halls, debates, etc). • Build event formats that are designed from the outset to produce high-performing multi-platform content, including vertical video, long-form, newsletters, and live-stream. • Translate high-level editorial and brand vision from the CEO, leadership team and key sponsors/partners into a detailed, actionable production roadmap. • Lead all show production elements including staging, lighting, audio, video, livestream/broadcast, venue operations, scenic design, and technical direction. • Manage event budgets, vendor selection, contracting, and accountability across production categories. • Oversee timelines, run-of-show, production schedules, rehearsals, and technical checks for all events. • Work closely with COURIER’s CEO, editorial leadership, state newsroom and revenue teams to develop programming that is journalistically strong, accessible, audience-minded, and achieving key sponsor and partner objectives. • Coordinate with talent, guests, subject-matter experts, moderators, elected officials, and public figures. • Serve as a senior advisor to other COURIER National video products/series and talent. • Partner with local hosts, venues, civic organizations, political offices, and community groups to ensure seamless execution. • Collaborate with internal teams (Social, Video, Growth, Newsletter, Events, and Sales/Underwriting) to fully integrate event content and maximize post-event distribution. • Manage sponsor expectations for events that include underwriting or branded content integrations. • Build and manage a comprehensive production budget, with strong attention to cost efficiency and operational rigor. • Ensure compliance with venue, legal, political, and safety requirements.
• Produce state-specific social content—graphics, carousels, short-form videos, captions, and community engagement posts • Edit and repurpose editorial reporting into social-first formats optimized for reach, shareability and online to offline action • Demonstrated comfort being on-camera for presenter lead shortform videos as needed • Use tools such as Canva, Opusclip, and Capcut to create and edit polished, high-performing multimedia content • Willingness to travel on-site to capture/create content as needed • Develop and execute social platform specific strategies for each of your newsrooms, aligned to local editorial priorities and audience needs • Create and manage platform-specific content calendars for each state, ensuring timely and locally resonant storytelling • Build and optimize social funnels to grow followers, engagement, and conversion into deeper audience relationships • Monitor platform trends and identify opportunities to expand reach in each state • Engage directly with local audiences—answering comments, encouraging conversation, and building community trust • Collaborate with state correspondents to amplify key reporting, explainers, and political updates • Track content performance using Emplifi and platform data to refine messaging, creative production, and distribution strategies • Develop weekly reports on audience growth, engagement trends, and opportunities for improvement • Identify platform-specific A/B tests and iterate quickly based on insights.
• Execute all deliverables related to ad operations, including trafficking, troubleshooting, optimization, and reporting of ad campaigns across all platforms including, but not limited to: Meta, Google, Programmatic, Pinterest, YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit, Nextdoor in line with project timelines • Run the ad buying pipeline to ensure that campaigns are ready for launch including pixel placement, ad sourcing/tracking, finalized creative delivery, Q/A processes, vendor payment, and other logistics required to ensure timely and efficient program launches • Confirm campaigns are set up in a way that is aligned with best practices and company approved media plans • Ensure that audiences are properly onboarded in advance of program launches and to access data related to performance of live campaigns • Provide regular reports that track campaign status, identify and troubleshoot delivery issues, and review reporting data for quality assurance • Manage and coordinate campaign functions by ensuring line items are distributed across all platforms effectively as directed by the company. • Audit + implement ad ops tools to address workflow inefficiencies, improve testing, maintain inventories, and automate ad scheduling as directed. • Deliver guidance of industry best practices for cost-efficient CPM/CPC/CPA strategies • Clearly communicate regular program updates to the Paid Media Manager and Director of Marketing
• Develop and execute a sales-first revenue strategy across direct sponsorships, brand partnerships, underwriting and events, in collaboration with leadership to achieve the organization’s quarterly and annual revenue targets • Identify new categories, verticals, partners, and products that are aligned with COURIER’s mission and audience to drive new revenue opportunities • Personally lead and close high-value partnership deals with premium and trusted brands across our national and state newsrooms • Own a meaningful individual book of business in addition driving team goals • Lead, mentor, and manage a sales team, setting a high bar for performance, accountability, and follow-through • Work closely with editorial, marketing, finance, and operations teams to ensure sold programs and products are high-quality, impactful, and deliver on partner expectations • Own pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and revenue reporting
• Lead big-picture product strategy for COURIER’s national newsletter, web, social video, and podcast content • Direct the planning and execution of a division-wide strategic plan with division, team, and individual level KPIs • Establish a compelling and consistent voice and visual brand across COURIER’s national newsletter, video and podcast products, social content, and events • Be an external representative and ambassador of COURIER within the media, civic, and advocacy sectors • Sit on COURIER’s executive leadership team and report to directly to the CEO, as well as to the organization’s Board of Directors • Collaborate with the CRO and revenue team to develop and deploy national product, events, grassroots fundraising, and other monetization strategies • Ensure all national products demonstrate mission, brand, and market fit through measurable audience growth, engagement, and revenue generation • Identify external partnerships, talent, and product acquisition opportunities to advance COURIER National’s growth, revenue, and impact objectives • Manage COURIER’s national division, including editorial, comms, marketing, and creative

• Build a strategic content and publishing calendar for three months to drive a narrative, spread awareness build community, encourage action and geared toward rapid for growth • Develop the presence for a new brand on two platforms, while experimenting and building guidelines around best practices that can be used after the pilot program • Join and be actively involved in Facebook groups, subreddits, and other social platforms to build an on-ramp to shape a community and organize users around issues and campaigns • Identify and onboard relationships with allied outlets and organizations within the niche cultural community/ online ecosystem • Draft social media post copy that reflects the brand’s voice while editing received content for platform optimization • Track and analyze content engagement and retention metrics and provide insights to inform future social media strategy • Provide regular updates and reports on post performance & optimize content for each social platform based on the findings • Openness to travel to events and/or content opportunities for and within the niche cultural community on select, limited occasions

• Showrun: COURIER’s daily news and politics content • Own the day-to-day production. • Collaborate on editorial – helping to choose top stories, researching and writing the run-of-shows, and helping to shape the tone and POV. • Work directly with talent to structure and adapt each episode for podcast and YouTube. • Collaborate with editors and social team to cut for clips, shorts, and other platform-native assets. • Book and coordinate guest appearances (e.g., reporters, insiders, creators) and prep them for appearances. • Manage recordings – ensuring quality audio and video for all talent and guests.
• Help build and maintain a robust social media presence for @CourierNewsroom’s social accounts across all platforms • Create engaging and informative daily social news content • Support content creation (graphics & video), including brainstorming ideas and helping manage projects from concept to completion • Closely monitor current events to create relevant social content that aligns with COURIER’s editorial priorities • Manage COURIER’s online communities across platforms and identify opportunities to build deeper relationships with our audience of 5.4M+ • Create and maintain a regular social calendar, including promoting COURIER’s national products • Track and report on the national team’s social KPIs • Send bi-weekly round-ups of national content to COURIER’s marketing list • Serve as a mentor to junior social staff
• Produce approximately 3–4 pieces of original, social‑first reporting per week on assigned topics related to state and local politics, policy, and civic life, across a variety of states. • Develop and pitch story ideas that align with COURIER’s pro‑democracy, impact‑driven narratives and with the editorial priorities of relevant state newsrooms. • Report and write clear, accurate, engaging stories, including explainers, accountability pieces, and human‑centered features for news-averse audiences. • Conduct research, interviews, and fact‑checking, including outreach to impacted community members, subject‑matter experts, elected officials, candidates, and advocates. • Create social content—including graphics, captions, and short‑form video—using COURIER’s creative platforms. • Produce presenter‑led videos featuring the consultant as on‑camera talent, tailored to social platforms. • Final review with editorial leads on assigned work to incorporate feedback in deliverables. • Contribute to basic documentation of work, including logging stories and content when published. • Use basic collaboration platforms such as Google Drive to receive assignments, share drafts, and deliver final work product. • The weekly mix of services and assignments will be set with COURIER and may be adjusted by mutual agreement during the engagement.
