As a Strategist, Natural Capital in our advisory unit, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between our team of expert scientists and the diverse needs of our clients. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality work with clear strategic insights that align with client objectives on carbon management, sustainability practices in food and land use, and environmental impact mitigation. You will also support revenue and lead generation through scope of work development and supporting strategic commercialization efforts in the natural capital sector. Your insights and leadership will be instrumental in driving impactful projects that contribute to existing and prospective clients' sustainability objectives. Responsibilities - Advise and consult with clients on carbon management and nature-based sustainability strategies, considering their unique business objectives, industry regulations, and market dynamics. - Prepare and deliver high-quality reports, presentations, and technical documents that effectively communicate complex scientific concepts and findings to clients and internal teams. - Contribute to revenue and lead generation through scope of work development and other business development efforts. - Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary teams in the development of sustainability plans, including carbon reduction and removal targets, supply chain decarbonization, and other relevant initiatives. - Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in sustainability practices and environmental policies in the food and agriculture sector, to ensure the delivery of cutting-edge solutions. - Work closely with Carbon Direct colleagues to evaluate the feasibility, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of various carbon removal technologies and sustainability projects. - Collaborate with clients' stakeholders, including executives, sustainability teams, engineers, and researchers, to ensure alignment and successful implementation of recommended strategies. - Act as a thought leader and represent the company at industry conferences, seminars, and workshops, sharing insights on carbon removal, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. Qualifications - Professional experience in sustainability consulting, management consulting, carbon removal, climate change mitigation, or a related field, preferably working with high-profile clients, including publicly-traded companies. - A degree in a relevant scientific discipline such as environmental science, agronomy, forestry, land use economics, or a related field; or a Bachelor’s degree in one of these fields and equivalent additional experience, advanced degree preferred. - Significant experience developing executive-level presentations (using Google Slides or PowerPoint), briefing memos, and other materials with clear narratives, along with writing associated talking points. - Experience in business development and client relationship management, including scope of work development and customer discovery. - Strong understanding and demonstrated expertise in food, agriculture, forestry or reforestation, and a familiarity with their associated challenges and opportunities. Preference for experience in food and agriculture. - Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks, industry standards, and environmental regulations, including science-based targets (i.e., via SBTi), greenhouse gas accounting methodologies (e.g., GHG Protocol), sustainable development goals (SDGs), and climate action frameworks (e.g., Paris Agreement). - Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sustainability strategies for diverse clients, ideally within sectors such as professional services, energy, manufacturing, transportation, or agriculture. - Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply scientific principles to complex environmental challenges and develop practical solutions. - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical audiences and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. Strong English writing and proofreading skills are valuable. - Strong project management abilities, including the capacity to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, meet deadlines, and allocate resources efficiently. - Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a passion for knowledge sharing, team collaboration, and fostering a positive work environment. • Design, evaluate, and analyze electrical systems relevant to corporate decarbonization pathways, including electrification, grid integration, power electronics, and low-carbon energy technologies • Develop and maintain transmission planning, system reliability, and integrated system planning (IRPs/ISPs), renewable integration studies that are customized based on client requests, and provide complementary analyses for the production cost modeling teams • Conduct rigorous technical due diligence on projects, technologies, and proposals involving electrical infrastructure, energy storage, or industrial electrification • Present, report, and translate complicated engineering analyses and models into clear, actionable recommendations for external clients, internal teams, Carbon Direct leadership team, and executive stakeholders. • Collaborate cross-functionally with scientists, policy experts, and business development teams to support client deliverables and thought leadership. • Contribute to publications, technical reports, and external communications related to electrification and grid decarbonization. • Cross-collaborate with both power and non-power teams, maintain the models and integration with other teams, and provide support for developing power system models for climate technology, grid modernization, and industrial decarbonization teams.

• Lead the design, implementation, and expansion of the company's data platform, including ingestion pipelines, data warehouse/lakehouse architecture, transformation layers, and data serving infrastructure. • Define and champion engineering standards, best practices, and architectural patterns for data infrastructure across the organization. • Collaborate cross-functionally to understand data needs and translate them into scalable, reliable platform capabilities. • Drive technical decisions on tooling, frameworks, and vendor selection for the data stack (e.g., orchestration, storage, transformation, observability). • Mentor and level up engineers on the team, providing technical guidance and code review with a focus on quality and long-term maintainability. • Proactively identify scalability, reliability, and performance bottlenecks and lead efforts to address them. • Partner with stakeholders across engineering, data science, and business teams to ensure the platform supports current and future analytical and operational needs. • Contribute to organizational planning and hiring, helping grow the data engineering function.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting deep diligences and conducting scientific assessments of decarbonization technologies, strategies, and projects.
