Position Overview: The Manager, Operational Data & Technologies will support R&D in the design, manufacture and testing of nuclear products for power, propulsion and medicine. Location: Hybrid position based in Lynchburg, Virginia at the Advanced Technologies Office. Your Day to Day as a Manager, Operational Data & Technologies: - Lead a team of experts in experiment design, research, and analysis at the intersection of information, operational, and engineering technologies, developing code and algorithmic solutions that support product development. - Oversee research efforts ranging from sensor and data pipeline development to data lake implementation and AI/machine learning applications in a manufacturing or engineering environment. - Establish value-added strategy for R&D funding of data and operational technologies. - Collaborate with design engineers and manufacturing development to create, build, maintain and modify data acquisition and control systems for automated equipment for quality support. - Solve predictive manufacturing and physics problems by collecting and curating structured and unstructured data using sensor suite research, statistical techniques, automated analyses, neural networks, or other data science methods. - Participate in a diverse portfolio of engineering projects that also include opportunities for digital twin development and multi-physics simulation products. Required Qualifications: - A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required, preferably in nuclear or mechanical engineering, with coursework or project experience applying data science techniques. - Must have at least five (5) years of leadership/supervisory experience. - Leadership experience includes positions that involve providing direction to others and schedule as well as responsibility that can be demonstrated by an ability to take the initiative, adhere to deadlines, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams. - A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience is required. - Must have analytical programming skills in C++, Python, and/or equivalent. - Must be proficient in at least one of the following areas: data engineering, operational technologies such as machine vision, statistical techniques, or machine learning methods. - Must be a U.S. citizen - Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required. Exposure to deadline and performance pressures: Frequently Pay: $169,000 - $238,000 The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $169,000 and $238,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
