• Supervise one Associate, providing day-to-day direction, coaching, quality oversight, career development and performance management across all functional areas — including gift processing, data entry, and supporter communications — and establishing the best practice standards that define excellence in each area • Work with Advancement leadership to establish and track KPIs, SMART goals, and performance benchmarks that drive accountability and support team growth • Develop, maintain, and regularly update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across data and systems operations and donor services, ensuring consistency, accountability, and service quality across both functions • Serve as the primary escalation point for gift processing issues, data backlogs, and vendor concerns • Proactively engage with departments across the organization, including Finance and Programs, to understand their data and reporting needs and develop Advancement Operations solutions that serve the full organization • Provide backup coverage for Associate functions — including customer service and gift processing — during absences or otherwise as needed to maintain continuity without disruption to operations • Develop and execute a data quality roadmap that optimizes people, processes, and technology to advance data maturity — making Advancement data more accurate, reliable, and actionable for decision-making and operational effectiveness • Design data strategies that drive audience engagement and fundraising revenue, including list segmentation, qualified list generation, and highly customized acquisition, solicitation, and stewardship campaigns • Build the data infrastructure to enable mid-level donor segmentation, moves management, and prospect research • Identify and implement database automations and AI integration opportunities to improve efficiency and streamline workflows; proactively monitor industry trends to continuously elevate data practices • Design and deliver data training for Advancement Team members, equipping staff to leverage data for decision-making and revenue growth within their respective areas • Lead large-scale data projects under the direction of the Development Director, as needed • Lead regular database clean-up projects, establishing and enforcing best practices in donor database health and data hygiene • Develop and maintain reporting infrastructure, delivering complex CRM reports to Advancement and Finance stakeholders on a routine and ad hoc basis • Develop, test, and validate data deliverables — including reports, segmented lists, and data projects — ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with organizational needs • Lead the production and delivery of recurring revenue and donor performance reporting for Development leadership • Proactively identify philanthropic opportunities through ongoing analysis of data trends, and surface and resolve advanced donation and data issues before they escalate • Ensure team adherence to policies and procedures for data management, maintaining data quality, security, and compliance with CAN-SPAM, PCI, and internal policies governing the use, storage, and handling of confidential donor and financial information • Manage the Advancement Team's use of the organization-wide CRM, including configuration, integrations with third-party fundraising tools and other platforms, and ensuring accurate tracking and timely reporting of deliverables • Manage key Development Team vendor partnerships, such as the CRM and caging vendor, providing strategic oversight to ensure alignment with organizational goals, drive performance, resolve issues, and optimize systems for long-term efficiency and impact • Serve as the Advancement Team lead for ALDF's migration from ROI to Salesforce.
• Oversee the Human Resources, Technology, and Operations teams, managing the Directors of each of these departments and working with them to set department strategy, vision, and culture, as well as hiring, training, supervising, mentoring, and developing team members. • Determine and formulate policies and provide overall direction for ALDF operational activities in partnership with your department Directors and team members. • Direct and implement business objectives to ensure optimal operations, maximize returns on investments, and increase inter-departmental collaboration and productivity. • Identify opportunities to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of internal operations. • Collaborate with ALDF’s Chief Financial Officer regarding shared services between the Human Resources and Finance departments, such as Payroll. • Work with your team leaders, the Executive Director, and Senior Leadership Team to prepare reports for key stakeholders such as the Board of Directors. • Direct the financial and budget activities for your teams, maximize outcomes, and increase efficiency. • Work with the Senior Leadership Team and Directors to execute the annual budget planning process for your teams and monitor progress throughout the year. • Confer with fellow leaders and staff members to discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve problems. • Work with other members of the Senior Leadership Team to assess organizational risk and implement measures to ensure compliance and mitigate risk. • Ensure that ALDF is operating in a manner that reflects sound controls, high mission impact, and manageable workloads for staff. • In partnership with the Senior Leadership Team, drive a positive, productive, and inclusive work environment at ALDF. • Oversee the development and implementation of practices that support a healthy culture across the organization, including strong internal communications and supporting the HR Director and other leaders in executing strategies that continuously improve ALDF’s culture. • Cultivate a positive and collaborative working relationship with fellow Leadership members and Programs staff, and support the Human Resources, Technology and Operations Directors in building strong cross-functional internal relationships. • Serve as an engaged and active member of the Senior Leadership Team and participate in and contribute to ALDF initiatives and processes. • Advise the Executive Director and Board on questions of organizational sustainability and other matters. • Oversee the development and implementation of programs and projects relating to infrastructure, Human Resources, Technology, and Operations and take the lead on internal change management for such initiatives. • Oversee the implementation and compliance with relevant ALDF policies, including record retention, technology use, employment and labor, communications standards. • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the fields of animal law. • Performing other duties as assigned.
• Build strong partnerships and develop a visible HR presence that fosters proactive engagement, trust, and alignment with programs, policies, and procedures. • Champion an inclusive culture throughout the organization; Implement strategies to create an inclusive workplace that values and leverages the unique perspectives of all employees. • Ensure HR initiatives are aligned with organizational priorities and ALDF’s mission, vision and values; Implement programs that enhance employee morale, satisfaction, and work-life balance. • Support methods for measuring and improving the employee experience; Participate in the design and implementation of employee engagement assessment tools, analyze data and feedback results. • Prepare and distribute HR communications, update internal HR portals to ensure staff have access to HR forms, policies and resources. • Coordinate employee recognition activities including service award program, birthday and anniversary announcements. • Coordinate monthly virtual staff meetings including agenda preparation, meetings invites and new staff introductions. • Manage ALDF recruiting processes; Post job openings, screen resumes, schedule interviews, conduct phone screens, prepare offer letters, facilitate background checks, and support managers and panels during the hiring process. • Develop and implement programs to improve hiring and onboarding processes and bolster the ALDF talent pipeline and brand; Support sourcing strategies for attracting a talented, diverse candidate pool. • Manage Onboarding process of new team members; Conduct HR Onboarding sessions to welcome new employees and provide access to the information needed for a successful transition to ALDF; Process I-9's and other new hire paperwork. • Support the Summer Clerk and Extern programs by preparing offer letters and conducting HR Onboarding sessions; Assist Summer Clerks and managers with timekeeping issues; Coordinate end of summer offboarding activities. • Administer performance review process, track completion and provide guidance to staff and managers. • Provide support for various training initiatives; Coordinate external training and facilitate training sessions as needed. • Provide guidance to staff on Professional Development Policy and support staff in career development strategies. • Serve as a first point of contact for HR-related or policy questions, acting as a trusted advisor to employees and management on HR-related matters. • Respectfully handle sensitive or confidential employee relations issues, including complaints and disciplinary actions. • Promote open communication and conflict resolution to cultivate a respectful work environment; Provide guidance and recommendations for issue resolution. • Provide support for Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiation, administration, compliance and other deliverables related to labor relations. • Collaborate with Finance team on HR changes that impact payroll processing. • Provide support to benefits administration including open enrollment, wellness initiatives and time off programs. • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and best practices. • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technology across HR topics to inform recommendations and strategy. • Performs other duties as required.

• The Animal Legal Defense Fund summer clerkship program gives law students who demonstrate an interest in animal law the opportunity to work with and be trained by top experts in the field. • Clerks are integral members of a program team and work on projects that further the current work of the program and advance the mission and goals of the Animal Legal Defense Fund. • Clerks will complete research for an upcoming Aquatic Animal Law & Policy Textbook. • Students will assist the Senior Student Programs Attorney with completing legal, factual, regulatory, and policy research relating to a wide variety of aquatic animal law issues. • General editing and checking sources and citations; and preparing written work products. • Clerks will also assist with student chapter outreach, animal law curriculum development, and project and event planning.

• Conduct research and draft memoranda regarding regulatory matters relevant to animals exploited on factory farms, in puppy mills, in entertainment, and in laboratories. • Assist in drafting regulatory comments and petitions for rulemaking. • Draft Freedom of Information Act and state public records requests, analyze responses to these requests, and draft appeals, when necessary. • Assist TRAP with gathering data for its database of information concerning animal-abusing industries and in creating spreadsheets tracking entities and numbers of species used in animal exploiting industries. • Conduct factual research in support of TRAP’s work and draft regulatory complaints against target entities.
• Act as lead counsel for assigned cases and projects, responsible for all research, filings, and other aspects of litigation • Research and develop novel legal theories and strategies for new cases • Manage drafting, editing, and submission of amicus curiae briefs • Work with Communications and other departments on civil legal issues and case content • Coordinate with other programs on cases with both civil and criminal components • Manage pro bono and local counsel on cases with external counsel • Prepare and deliver presentations for professional conferences and fundraising events • Provide in-house expertise for staff on litigation program cases and civil procedures

• Gain experience with and knowledge of animal protection issues, campaigns, and advocacy. • Improve skills in research, writing, legislative analysis, coalition-building, and lobbying strategies. • Assist the Legislative Affairs Program in developing and implementing resources and strategies to further legislative goals. • Specific duties may include researching policy issues, developing memos or issue briefs, analyzing state and federal legislation or regulation, and assisting with administrative work. • Prepare correspondence and assist with outreach to supporters, coalition partners, and public officials, including elected and appointed officials. • Attend virtual public hearings, coalition calls, stakeholder meetings, lobby day(s), lobby 101(s), conferences, and other events. • Collaborate with Communications and other departments to propose, draft, proofread, edit, and update content on priority campaigns for the website, including project pages and online action centers, email action alerts, phonebanking scripts, etc. • Coordinate with other programs, including with the Criminal Justice Program and Litigation Program staff on cases related to legislative campaigns. • Prepare and deliver virtual presentations for lobby 101(s) or other advocacy trainings for advocates, professional conferences, fundraising events, etc.
