IT Software Development Supervisor
Daktronics
• Supervise the development team professionals, students, and interns by providing guidance, support and coaching as needed. • Support other development teams with their development needs and eliminate roadblocks for the team. • Onboard new employees, including students, into the development teams. • Build relationships with development team contractors and associated contractor account representatives. • Identify individual and team strengths and opportunities for growth. • Build and maintain trust and team morale throughout the development team. • Develop successful mentoring plans and experiences for individuals to learn and grow in areas of discipline new to them. • Participate in interviewing and hiring software development interns and students to ensure an adequately staffed student pipeline. • Promote individual and team training and upskill individuals in alignment with IT technology roadmap and project requirements. • Develop and maintain development skills matrix of development team members. • Manage development team escalation schedule, rotation, process, and ensure incoming escalations are assigned and addressed. • Promote tools, development practice, and process consistency across IT Dev teams (escalations, standards, etc). • Assist IT Leadership in development team member allocation and capacity planning activities. • Proactively communicate to impacted personnel of changes in team members’ schedules or team member reallocations. • Attend and represent development team interests in team tier meetings and PI Planning events. • Promote ongoing team understanding of IT Digital Transformation Funnel development process.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required.
- Five (5)+ years of experience with supervision, preferably overseeing teams in a technical environment.
- Supervision experience of teams consisting of more than 15 employees.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, have difficult conversations, willingness to tackle tough questions, and listening skills.
- Experience exercising curiosity, gaining clarity, and offering critique based on thorough understanding of circumstances of conflict.
- Ability to hold individuals accountable for high performance while maintaining trust.
- Proven ability to coach individuals and teams in continuous improvements.
- Effective communication skills, ability to take initiative in proactively communicating to individuals, teams, and leadership.
- Strong organizational skills including managing multiple and changing priorities.
- Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgement.
- Ability to travel by air and ground.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to meet and maintain Daktronics Driving Eligibility Requirements.
- Motor vehicle records will be checked.
- Fluent in English, written and verbal.
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
