Technical Program Manager, Distribution – Process Optimization
SanMar
• Supervise project team and their deliverables, providing day to day direction and insight to ensure that they meet their goals and deadlines. • Coach and develop project team to meet their individual and business expectations, as well as to grow and excel within their roles. • Manage a revolving portfolio of tasks and projects comprised of Material Handling systems and equipment, Hardware and Media management, and Storage and Capacity initiatives. • Research, analyze, and troubleshoot SanMar handling systems; understand the operation and dependencies of the solutions and processes, and how they are used by the DCs. • Identify and develop resource information (i.e., disaster response, strategic computing, information security and control). • Work across all stakeholder areas to translate business requirements into high performing solutions that meet the business needs; ensure best operational practice. • Create detailed project plans and frameworks; ensure team members are meeting milestones and reporting status. • Provide distribution system subject matter expertise to business areas and end users. • Work closely with Technical and Delivery teams to identify, design and deliver changes to system environments; ensure projects are in lockstep with functional requirements. • Work closely with Distribution/Company leadership and primary resources to determine strategic focus and task prioritization, and long-term portfolio management. • Perform other duties as assigned. • Comply with all policies and standards.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Technology Discipline or equivalent industry experience
- 4-6 years of experience in an IT program or project management role
- Previous experience leading a team with a focus on Continuous Improvement and/or Industrial Engineering is preferred
- Experience with procure/design/build/support of mechanical and automation systems and related technology and integrations
- Solid subject matter expertise using technology-based distribution systems; experience with SanMar specific systems preferred: Warehouse Management (HighJump/Korber); Voice, RF and scanning WMS equipment; high output printers and label media; Distribution facility specific WCS/WES, Conveyor hardware/software interfaces; Industry relevant automations (AS/RS, Goods to Person, pick/pack to light, etc.)
- Experience with procure/design/build/support of storage systems, i.e., racking, binning
- Experience with industry-specific tools such as AutoCad and Process Modeling/Simulation software
- Expertise in Lean principles (experience delivering continuous improvement initiatives in a distribution or comparable setting, using recognized methodologies such as Lean/Six Sigma) is preferred
- Six Sigma Green Belt or higher is preferred
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI preferred
- Competency across a range of project management tools (e.g. MS Project, VSTS, Jira, CA PPM, Visio)
- Demonstrated delivery with an agile development methodology
- Ability to interact with many different skill sets and roles within the company
- Ability and energy to work on multiple projects at a time and potentially switch projects as necessary, maintaining a strong quality focus on each
- A bias for action with the ability to adapt quickly with a positive attitude toward change
- Ability to professionally drive change and process improvement in a loosely structured environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Flexible with schedule, able to provide off-hours support either remotely, or onsite, as needed
- Travel is a requirement of this role, up to 50% or more at times and includes SanMar sites, Industry events
