Outside Sales Representative

Core & Main

• Manage project workloads for Treatment plant and critical infrastructure projects • Present customer‑provided material lists and complete bill‑of‑material packages • Coordinate multi‑stage shipments to align with construction schedules utilizing project management team • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and execution throughout each project lifecycle • Apply strong knowledge of water, wastewater, and civil/mechanical processes • Support customers with product recommendations, technical clarifications, and system‑level solutions • Maintain expertise in core product categories: PVF (pipe, valves, fittings) HDPE and fusion equipment Operators, actuators, and related plant components • Partner with internal quotation, estimating and pre-bid manager teams: Plant‑specific scopes Detailed infrastructure material takeoffs Design‑build support packages • Ensure customers receive accurate, comprehensive, and timely proposals • Identify new opportunities across water, wastewater, and municipal ecosystems • Develop relationships with engineering firms, public agencies, and major developers • Attend industry events, associations, and trade shows to expand presence and pipeline • Conduct market research to identify growth opportunities within the region • Serve as the primary point of contact for plant‑related and infrastructure accounts • Maintain deep, consultative relationships that drive long‑term loyalty • Act as a trusted resource for technical guidance, product sourcing, and project planning

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of industry‑related outside sales experience (waterworks, civil, mechanical, or distribution)
  • Experience supporting large infrastructure or plant environments (water/wastewater treatment and industrial civil projects)
  • Strong technical aptitude: engineering background (especially civil) is a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, material lists, and engineered designs
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex scopes and multi‑phase projects
  • Strong determination to be a successful outside sales representative
