Financial Controller Remote | Full-Time About the Role We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to serve as the operational backbone of our accounting and financial reporting function. This role is critical to maintaining financial integrity, supporting leadership decision-making, and ensuring accurate, transparent financial oversight across our franchisor entity and franchise network. This is a hands-on Controller role, ideal for someone who thrives in a growing franchise environment, values precision, and understands the unique financial dynamics of franchising. What You’ll Do Franchisor Accounting & Close - Own the monthly close process, delivering accurate financial statements on time - Prepare P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements - Reconcile all bank, credit card, loan, and clearing accounts - Maintain GAAP-compliant accounting practices and clean audit trails Franchise Royalties & Fee Oversight - Oversee royalty billing, collections, and reconciliations - Reconcile franchisee-reported revenue with system data - Monitor delinquencies, late fees, and payment plans - Ensure clear, defensible, and consistent franchisee financial statements Brand Fund & Restricted Accounts - Manage brand fund accounting with strict separation and transparency - Track approved vs. actual spend and prepare regular reports - Support FDD compliance and financial defensibility Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Insight - Support annual budgeting and rolling cash forecasts - Monitor unit economics and cost-to-serve metrics - Provide leadership with timely, decision-ready financial insights Controls, Systems & Process Improvement - Maintain internal controls, approval workflows, and accounting SOPs - Own the accounting systems and integrations (POS, payroll, franchise platforms) - Reduce manual processes through automation and documentation Cross-Functional Support - Partner closely with the CFO, leadership team, operations, and legal - Support audits, lender requests, and board-level reporting What We’re Looking For Required - 5+ years of accounting experience, including Controller-level responsibility - Experience in franchising, multi-unit, or multi-entity environments - Strong understanding of GAAP and financial controls - Proven ownership of monthly close and financial reporting - Advanced proficiency with modern accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct) - Ability to work independently in a remote environment Preferred - Franchise royalty and brand fund experience - Home services, multi-location, or PE-backed experience - Experience supporting audits and lender reporting - CPA or CMA (preferred, not required) Key Measures of Success - On-time monthly close (≤10 business days) - Accurate, clean financial statements with minimal post-close adjustments - Strong royalty collection health and low billing disputes - Transparent, compliant brand fund reporting - Improved systems, controls, and process efficiency Benefits - Health benefits and PTO - Fully remote role with a collaborative leadership team Why Join Us - Play a critical role in a growing franchise system - Work closely with executive leadership - Build scalable financial systems that support long-term growth - Be part of a values-driven organization focused on transparency, integrity, and franchisee success This is a remote position.
