Role Description An established, high-volume distribution business is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to own the close, improve processes, and support a private equity–backed growth environment. This role reports to the CFO, is fully remote (CST preferred), and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves setting. - Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close to deliver accurate, GAAP-compliant financial statements. - Own key balance sheet reconciliations (cash, AR, AP, inventory, accruals) and strengthen accounting policies and controls. - Act as a power user for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, driving cleanup of legacy data and process improvements. - Partner with AP/AR, support budgeting and KPI reporting, and prepare schedules and analyses for the CFO and PE stakeholders. Qualifications - 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience with significant close and reconciliation ownership (CPA preferred). - Strong US GAAP knowledge and experience in a distribution or other high-volume environment. - Mid-market ERP experience (D365 Business Central or similar) and advanced Excel skills. - Experience in a low- or mid-market private equity–backed company, including exposure to PE-style reporting cadence and KPIs. • Manages and monitors large project or accounting processes within the regulatory reporting function, specifically, capital. • Provides subject matter expertise to leaders and business lines by providing guidance, interpretation, and communicating impact to business lines/accounting team. • Directs and guides capital reporting teams by reviewing financial information, reporting, and disclosures. • Ensures compliance and regulatory standards are met within the department. • Researches and analyzes new products, systems, and/or best practices within the accounting function; proposes findings to Regulatory Reporting Director. • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. • Collaborates cross-functionally with all lines of businesses to facilitate and lead timely implementation and standardization of any new regulatory reporting requirements. • Advises senior management on the best practices needed to meet defined goals and objectives. • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
