Role Description The Data Analyst Intern will be assigned to the Prevention and Response Branch (PRB) to support the National Park Service (NPS) Office of Health and Safety (OHS) with safety and disease prevention priorities. - Analyze various data sets to identify disease and injury trends in national parks - Identify causal and contributing factors to diseases and injuries, high risk populations, and location specific information - Develop data rules, perform data clean-up and coding, conduct data analysis - Generate various outputs (reports, dashboards, etc.) to inform safety efforts - Develop presentations and conduct briefings on analysis results to program managers - Support various public health initiatives within the PRB - Develop and update relevant and engaging safety and health content on external and internal platforms - Collaborate with safety professionals, public health professionals, communications staff, and other subject matter experts - Strengthen data analysis and reporting skills, learn project management, communication planning, policy and guidance development, and create public health related training for adult audiences Qualifications - Recent graduate with a minimum of a master’s degree in public health or data science specializing in data analytics or epidemiology - Expert in using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint - Experience in conducting public health research, developing methodologies for collecting and analyzing quantitative or qualitative data - Experience in conducting comprehensive literature reviews, preparing citations, and translating findings into informational documents - Experience in managing and analyzing data sets for technical reports or research - Ability to work independently with some oversight to effectively plan and manage tasks - Ability to work in a team environment, collaborating on common tasks and resolving conflicts - Ability to effectively work in a virtual remote environment - Skill in written and verbal presentations of technical material - Ability to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with individuals and groups from different backgrounds - Ability to anticipate, recognize, and analyze problems and to make effective decisions Requirements - A 1-2 page resume - This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. Job Summary: The Healthcare Analyst II is responsible for analyzing healthcare utilization to identify patterns, variation, and outliers as well as identify and quantify opportunities to reduce medical costs.
