Electrical Engineer

• Plan, coordinate, and review the engineering and design of electrical power, lighting, and electronic systems • Oversee the design of integrated facility systems, including fire alarm and life-safety systems, inmate duress systems, paging and communication systems, security and control center systems, emergency power and generator systems • Review electrical designs prepared by contracted architect-engineer firms for correctional facilities • Evaluate designs for completeness, technical accuracy, suitability, constructability, compliance with applicable codes and standards • Manage the development and maintenance of electrical and electronic engineering guidelines, standards, and design criteria • Monitor construction activities for compliance with approved electrical and electronic engineering designs, standards, and specifications • Provide technical support for site evaluation and acquisition activities
Job Requirements
- Must possess a current and active Professional Engineer license
- Ability to pass an extensive FBOP background check
- Advanced knowledge of electrical and electronic engineering principles and practices
- Extensive knowledge of building and site electrical systems, communication systems, security systems, and related electronic systems
- Knowledge of related architectural and engineering disciplines, including structural, mechanical, and civil engineering
- Extensive experience with construction methods, materials, installation techniques, and building systems
- Knowledge of applicable building codes, electrical codes, fire codes, and life-safety requirements
- Familiarity with correctional facility operations and American Correctional Association standards
