Job Description Summary The Technical Field Advisor II (TFA) provides on-site technical direction to customer-owned utility and industrial power plants for their Turbine Generator Systems. Responsible for reviewing plant engineering documents and P&ID’s, troubleshooting of plant systems and equipment, planning, organizing, integrating and direction of resources such as labor, tools and materials as required to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements. The primary responsibility of the TFA II is to safely accomplish the maintenance and repair of the various equipment used in power generation applications. You may be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our Steam Power vision and align with our organization’s core values. Job Description Essential Responsibilities - Fulfill contract responsibilities for designated and qualified skill set (Turbine Mechanical, Generator) - Direct and oversee repair or inspection procedures utilizing the latest electronic communication, references and documentation technologies. - Recognize, predict and document potential failures and future outage recommendations - Working knowledge of prints/print reading, such as manufacturing drawings, P&IDs and schematic drawings - Participate as a Service Team member dedicated to Safety metrics. - Pre-outage planning; possibly recommending and administering policies and procedures - Lead execution and oversight of projects under the TFA’s core competency - Execute project management and technical leader duties - Support warranty administration - Troubleshoot and problem solve with the support of engineering to resolve customer issues - Perform other duties as assigned - Support business needs when not on field assignment - Willingness and ability to travel as required by field assignments - Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or, a High School Diploma / GED, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in hands-on Steam Turbine experience Desired Characteristics: - Possesses the knowledge and skill to actively support an outage and the awareness of where to seek answers to questions as they arise. Has experienced successful installations and outages. - Experience and training on GE, Alstom, Siemens or other OEM equipment is preferred - Demonstrates a positive and professional demeanor in managing customer relationships with a strong ability to address technical and contractual matters effectively - The knowledge and skill to oversee outage tasks/scopes/small teams - Follow up all quality aspects according GE QA manual and procedures - Working knowledge and application of EHS policies and procedures - Strong analytic and problem-solving skills - Strong computer skills - Relies on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals - Effective communication to HQs, through company e-tools - Good organizational, project management, oral/written communication, interpersonal/leadership skills - Strong business acumen and ability to sell GE products to the customer - “Special consideration will be given to applicants from Fieldcore.” Eligibility Requirements: - English proficiency required - Extensive travel to and from projects and various field assignments is required (80% travelling time) - Ability to obtain unescorted security clearance at nuclear power facilities - Willing to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required - Valid Driver’s License and passport - Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, work in hot environments, and lift 25 lbs - Meet core competency Level II skill requirements and successful completion of required training programs in a minimum requirement Employment is contingent upon acceptable results of your pre-employment background and drug screening (to be taken within 48 hours of your receipt of the test paperwork). You may receive specialized classroom and laboratory training to prepare you for your assignment. You will be expected to complete periodic training to meet competency requirements for the position.
