• Create and manage social content that engages the developer and DBA community authentically. • Partner with our engineering experts and to amplify community voices and content. • Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations and their communities for joint events and initiatives. • Create video and short-form content that brings the social engagement plan to life, using AI-assisted tools to work more efficiently without compromising quality. • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit) and how content performs across each. • Experience with Buffer, Sprout Social or comparable scheduling and listening tools. • Comfortable on camera and able to create authentic, engaging short-form video content. • Own day-to-day engagement on the Percona Forum and Community Slack welcoming new members, answering or routing questions, and keeping discussions active and healthy. • Monitor community health and sentiment across channels, flagging issues and celebrating wins. • Build relationships with active contributors, MVPs, and long-time community members. • Travel to conferences, meetups, and partner events to represent Percona and staff the booth or table. • Provide regional support for community and partner events, from swag to schedules to on-site troubleshooting. • Act as the on-site point person, comfortable making real-time calls when things don't go to plan. • Help run and continuously improve internal community programs (e.g. ambassador/advocate programs, contributor recognition, onboarding for new community members). • Coordinate internally with Marketing, Product, and Engineering to keep programs aligned with company priorities. • Track program metrics and report on community growth and engagement. • Perform light-to-moderate coding and maintenance on Percona's community website (content updates, bug fixes, small feature work).
Job Requirements
- Experience running or actively contributing to an online community (forum, Slack, Discord, or similar) ideally in an open source, developer, or technical context.
- Comfortable with basic-to-intermediate coding (e.g. HTML/CSS/JS or similar) for website maintenance; you don't need to be a senior engineer, but you should be able to make changes without hand-holding.
- Experience planning or supporting in-person events, with the willingness and ability to travel regularly.
- Social media savvy, with an understanding of what resonates with developer and technical audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable being the public face of the team both online and in person.
- Self-directed and organized able to juggle community moderation, program work, event logistics, and small dev tasks in the same week.
- Genuine enthusiasm for open source and developer communities.

This is an exciting moment for Freedom House, with new leadership, the organizations 85th Anniversary, and the launch of Investing in Freedoms Future, a five-year, $85 million campaign to strengthen Freedom Houses flagship research, deepen engagement with policymakers, expand direct assistance to human rights defenders, and invest in new work to push back against authoritarian abuses. We are seeking a candidate who can hit the ground running by independently planning and executing public, donor-focused, Board, campaign, and high-level engagement events in Washington, DC, key metropolitan cities across the United States, and abroad. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, this role will work closely with the Development and Communications teams to ensure alignment on messaging, branding, fundraising goals, campaign priorities, visibility, and strategic positioning across all events and convenings. The role will also collaborate across the organization, including with C-suite, mid-level, and junior-level staff, to design and execute events that position Freedom Houses thought leadership, drive donor and partnership cultivation, support campaign-related engagement, and strengthen Freedom Houses visibility and impact worldwide. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Event Strategy & Execution • Lead the full lifecycle of events, including galas, fundraisers, convenings, special initiatives, campaign-related events, and virtual initiatives, from concept to completion, including budgeting, venue selection, and vendor management in Washington, DC, nationally, and abroad. • Manage all aspects of event delivery, including concept development, logistics, vendor coordination, budgeting, and on-site execution. • Exercise independent judgment in establishing organization-wide policies and practices for events and special initiatives and managing event priorities, budgets, vendors, timelines, and stakeholder coordination to ensure strategic execution. • Ensure events are aligned with organizational priorities, messaging, and fundraising objectives. • Support the development and updating of a strategic calendar of priority events for executives and experts across the organization. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: • Bachelor's degree in fundraising management, marketing, business, nonprofit leadership, or related area of study.
