Forward-Deployed Engineer – Pre-Sales
Tessera Labs
• Write code and build production software and workflows on top of the Tessera Mosaic platform • Conduct deep process discovery with customers, breaking down complex, ambiguous, cross-system problems into well-defined solutions • Build lightweight prototypes or workflows that showcase Tessera’s AI agents in real enterprise scenarios • Partner with GTM to clearly frame technical boundaries in sales engagements, producing technical collateral including Statements of Work • Collaborate with Infra and Engineering to architect implementations that scale and work consistently across high-volume, business-critical processes • Iterate closely with customers and cross-functional partners to drive adoption from pilot to full production • Ensure that field signal from the customer is transmitted to the Product and Engineering teams, helping shape our product strategy • Build long-term customer relationships and proactively identify new automation opportunities throughout engagements • Lead training and workshop sessions at customer sites to train and upskill Tessera Mosaic users on the platform
Job Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in a technical, customer-facing capacity such as Forward-Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Technical Program Manager, Software Engineering with sales or consulting experience, or former technical founder
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experiencing building production-grade AI systems
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to operate effectively under ambiguity and fast-moving deployments
- An ownership mentality and willingness to do whatever it takes to get deployments over the line
- Willingness to travel to customer sites, primarily within the U.S.

The Aftermarket Sales Position plays a hybrid role combining technical service expertise with proactive sales of replacement parts, upgrades, repairs, service contracts, and related aftermarket solutions for municipal water and wastewater treatment equipment at the plant level. This position focuses on supporting municipal utilities (cities, counties, water districts, and wastewater authorities) by maximizing equipment uptime, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving revenue through aftermarket opportunities for pumps, valves, filters, membranes, blowers, controls, chemical feed systems, and other treatment process components. Creating goodwill between these customers and Principle Environmental is an important goal. This is a remote role that will require travel throughout GA, AL, Eastern TN, and parts of the Florida Panhandle. Candidates must reside in GA, AL, or TN. Key Responsibilities: - Aftermarket Sales — Identify and pursue opportunities for replacement parts, rebuilds, retrofits, service agreements, extended warranties, and system enhancements; prepare accurate quotations, proposals, and pricing for parts and services. - Technical Service and Support — Perform on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repairs, installations, and upgrades of water and wastewater treatment equipment at municipal facilities (e.g., pumps, valves, mixers, aerators, clarifiers, filtration systems, UV disinfection, chemical dosing equipment). This requires a hands-on approach with some use of tools. - Customer Relationship Management — Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with municipal operators, maintenance staff, plant managers, and procurement personnel; conduct regular site visits, system health checks/audits, and equipment performance reviews to uncover needs and recommend solutions. - Sales Activities — Prospect within assigned territory (municipal accounts); respond promptly to inquiries via phone, email, and CRM; generate leads through cold calls, follow-ups on installed base, participation in industry events, and collaboration with engineering consultants.
