Job Description
Controller
Aduro Advisors
• Act as the in-charge and main-point-of-contact for multiple clients • Managing workflow and coordination of work amongst Aduro team members including but not limited to your Director or Senior Controller, Accounting Managers, Staff Accountants and Management Company Team members • Setting up and running recurring client check-in calls covering current status, open items, and any updates from the client on upcoming operational needs • Responding to ad-hoc client requests in a thoughtful and professional manner in-line with Aduro processes and industry best practices • Respond to all client request emails within 24 hours • Reconcile banking transactions and prepare journal entries in accordance with US GAAP in Xero • Drive month-end close process and raise follow-up questions to Director, CFO or client as appropriate • Reconcile and maintain investment information for all fund investments • Prepare quarterly financial statements including partners’ capital allocations • Utilize proprietary investment management database to send investor correspondence including capital contributions, distributions, and quarterly reporting • Update proprietary investment management database for fund activity and investments • Prepare audit materials and manage year-end financial statement audit and tax work • Respond to ad hoc General Partner / Limited Partner data requests
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the alternative asset industry; Venture Capital and/or Private Equity experience is preferred
- External auditor experience / CPA certification / MBA a plus
- In-depth understanding of US GAAP and partnership accounting including complex allocation waterfalls
- Experience in a client-facing role leading engagements on multiple clients
- Naturally resourceful, driven and have strong problem-solving skills
- Value in providing excellent customer service, being thoughtful and know the details make the difference
- Passion for mentoring and coaching team members
- Proficient in accounting systems such as Xero or Quickbooks
- Comfortable with software systems including Gsuite, Microsoft Office, Box, Slack

Role Description As a member of Onbe’s Senior Leadership Team, the Corporate Controller will be a strategic leader responsible for leading all aspects of our Accounting team. As the Controller, you will: - Oversee the operations of the accounting department and handle all accounting functions, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, and financial reporting. - Lead month/quarter/year-end close process and preparation of monthly financial statements. - Provide strategic insight into operational improvements through metrics-based analysis, including merging our two accounting platforms. - Oversee the preparation and filing of various tax filings, including but not limited to sales tax and business property tax filings. - Establish and maintain controls to safeguard company assets; document and recommend improvements to internal financial policies and procedures. - Lead annual audit with external auditors and related information as needed. - Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques. - Prepare monthly reporting packages to stakeholders and lenders. - Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements. - Effectively lead the accounting team by developing and coaching existing team members and hiring talent as needed. - Manage both internal and external accountants in the preparation of tax returns. - Collaborate and interact with the business to foster effective partnerships. - Drive continuous improvement in accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes. - Handle ad-hoc requests and special projects, such as system upgrades/implementations, workflow automation, account trend and vendor cost analysis, etc. Qualifications - 10+ years of experience in corporate accounting with at least five years of management experience. - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field required. - CPA required (active or inactive). - Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting policies, and compliance. - Extensive experience with corporate taxation is strongly preferred. - Experience in professional services, financial services, or wealth management is strongly preferred. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on team development. - Great Plains experience or similar ERP preferred. - ERP implementation experience preferred. Requirements - The base salary range for this position is budgeted for $200,000 to $230,000 with eligibility for an annual bonus. - The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, business needs, and market demand.
