Role Description We are urgently seeking a hands-on VMware Network Engineer to support a major nationwide datacenter hardware and infrastructure initiative. While this role is technically remote, it requires heavy, consistent travel to approximately 30 datacenters across the United States. The ideal candidate is a highly technical, hands-on engineer who is comfortable with a rigorous travel schedule (2-3 site visits per week). Due to the travel requirements, the candidate must live within close proximity to a major airport. Key Responsibilities - Imaging & Security: Secure and deploy images for VMware ESXi and Veeam Servers (Linux environments). - Network Connectivity: Establish and manage OPC ESXi Layer 3 (L3) local connectivity to OCC ESXi and Veeam hardware. - Remote Access: Configure secure remote access protocols for enterprise servers and storage systems. - Hardware Deployment: Install and provision VMware ESXi on new swing hardware within the OCC subnet (Server #2). - Backup Infrastructure: Build, configure, and deploy Veeam servers (Server #1) at mobile locations to function as local backup servers. Project Execution Phases - Pre-Cutover: Hardware staging, imaging, and initial configuration. - Outage Window: Active cutover, migrations, and connectivity execution. - Go-Live: Final validation, troubleshooting, and handover. Qualifications - Demonstrated hands-on experience in VMware (ESXi) engineering, installation, and network connectivity. - Strong experience building and configuring Veeam backup servers (Linux). - Deep understanding of Layer 3 connectivity, subnetting, and server/storage remote access configurations. Requirements - Must have easy, rapid access to a major airport. - Valid work authorization required. Please note: OPT and CPT candidates will not be considered for this role.
