Lead Transmission Line Engineer 1 - Grid
Sargent & Lundy
Role Description - Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range. - Mentor and train less experienced design team members. - Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements. - Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements and S&L formats. - Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations, drawing preparation, and transmission line models based in PLS-CADD. - Adhere to Sargent & Lundy's System of Processes. Qualifications - BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program. - 10 or more years of transmission design experience. - Proficiency with PLS-CADD software. - Experience must include preparation of scopes of work, development of conceptual designs, determination of design basis, the selection of equipment and materials, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications. - Experience working directly with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 500kV. - Knowledge of engineering standards including NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI. - Experience reviewing design drawings created by others. Requirements - PE license (valued but not required). - PMP certification (valued but not required). - Construction experience (valued but not required). - Familiarity with ArcGIS (valued but not required). - Ability to lead others in using modern tools for engineering problems. - Experience overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks (valued but not required). - Additional learning in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields (valued but not required). Compensation Range $118,023 - $180,313 Transparency Statement Sargent & Lundy discloses compensation ranges that comply with all local and state regulations. The total compensation package for eligible positions will include a base salary or an hourly rate and a comprehensive benefits package, reflecting our commitment to rewarding performance and supporting the overall well-being of our employees. • Design, build, and maintain shared platform components across the Titan platform • Develop features and resolve defects across UI, backend services, APIs, and shared services • Write clean, testable, maintainable code with appropriate automated test coverage • Debug issues across the stack and support production-quality delivery • Participate in code reviews, pull requests, technical design discussions • Collaborate with QA, Product Management, and development teams across the organization • Support secure development practices, including authentication, authorization, roles, and platform security • Improve platform performance, stability and reliability • Support customer escalations related to shared platform functionality
