• Own the HomeFront product suite end-to-end: roadmap execution, backlog prioritization, and release planning. • Drive new customer acquisition by ensuring the product delivers compelling value to small and mid-sized builders. • Manage a team of 5 (1 BA/ Scrum Master, 1 QA Engineer, 1 Senior Developer, 3 Junior Developers), with the team expected to grow over time. • Serve as the primary voice of the customer - gather feedback, identify pain points, and translate them into actionable product improvements. • Maintain and improve the legacy application while the new platform is built. • Develop and execute a roadmap of initiatives tied to measurable KPIs. • Work directly with customers to pursue continued understanding of builder workflows, business process demands and requirements, and utilization necessities. • Collaborate with the Director of Product on strategic direction while owning tactical execution. • Lead the planning of product release plans and set expectations for delivery of new functionalities. • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals. • Take responsibility to resolve concerns and problems within the team, department, and with customers. • Identify and prioritize AI-powered features that simplify builder workflows.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of business operations.
- Solid understanding of ERP systems, accounting software, and how they integrate with operational platforms.
- Comfort with business process workflows from transaction origination, the evolution of it, and how it flows through a system.
- Experience in a customer-facing role with comfortability leading conversations with builders and translating their needs into product decisions.
- Experience managing or working closely with small Agile development teams.
- Ability to analyze business problems, develop practical solutions, and clearly communicate requirements to the scrum team.
- Ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate opportunities for determining what gets built and delivered to customers.
- In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles.
- Experience driving user adoption and growth metrics (DAU/MAU).
- AI-first mindset by actively implementing and using AI tools to multiply productivity for all team members.
- Demonstrated ability to identify where AI can solve real user problems and translate that into shipped product features.

Who you are To advance Understood’s mission and to further our impact, we’re hiring a Senior Research Manager, reporting to our Director of Ecosystem Research. You are a researcher who works at the intersection of market intelligence and automation. You excel at delivering cutting-edge market insights to product and other functional teams, providing the daily and weekly insights that fuel innovation. You build AI-driven workflows—such as custom bots and scraping pipelines—to deliver a steady stream of product landscape insights to cross-functional teams. You use LLMs like Claude, Gemini and Perplexity to automate secondary research, and you maintain an always-current view of the market so Understood’s product decisions are evidence-based and ahead of trends. What you’ll do Insights - Produce high-quality, business-driven insights for many teams, with a focus on the product side of the business (marketing, partnerships, external research, and more) - Partner with teams to clarify and sharpen research questions, ensuring findings address the real strategic need rather than the surface-level ask. Product Landscape Automation & Embedded Support - Own the "always-on" scraping and updating of product landscapes to ensure Understood remains ahead of market trends. - Design and maintain AI bots (e.g. Gemini GEMs) to create automated data pipelines that streamline secondary research data collection and analysis. - Serve as the research partner for Product, Product Marketing, and UXR teams, providing rapid-response analysis and weekly Slack updates on competitor moves. We are a Mac-based environment, and team members are provided a Mac laptop for their work.
