Role Description Hayward is implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365FO) and is seeking a remote contract data modeling expert with deep expertise in financial and manufacturing domains to support the BI department in building new dimensional models and reports off the resulting data. This role requires availability during Eastern (EST) business hours. - Serve as the subject matter expert on the D365FO data model, advising the BI team on table structures, relationships, and data lineage as the implementation progresses. - Design new dimensional models (star schemas, fact/dimension tables) for financial and manufacturing reporting (e.g., GL, AP/AR, cost accounting, production, inventory, BOM/routing), applying deep domain knowledge to ensure models accurately represent business processes. - Work directly with business users to gather and evaluate requirements, build design specifications, and translate those specs into SQL queries and data models. - Write and optimize complex SQL queries — including CTEs and analytical/window functions — against D365FO-replicated data in Snowflake and Azure Synapse. - Design and build table-level entity relationship diagrams (ERDs) documenting D365FO source tables and relationships to support downstream modeling. - Test deliverables with business users, validating results to ensure data quality and accuracy before release, and build or guide development of Power BI reports from the new models. - Identify data gaps or mapping issues between D365FO source data and target models, and document data models, mappings, and business logic for long-term maintainability. Qualifications - 5+ years of hands-on experience with the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365FO) data model, including core finance, supply chain, and/or procurement entities. - Deep, expert-level knowledge of financial domain concepts (general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, cost accounting, financial reporting) and manufacturing domain concepts (production orders, BOM/routing, inventory, costing). - 5+ years of SQL experience, including CTEs, analytical/window functions, and query optimization across large datasets. - Experience designing dimensional models (star schema, fact/dimension design) for financial and manufacturing BI reporting, including building table-level ERDs and source-to-target documentation. - Hands-on experience with both Snowflake and Azure Synapse. - Business analyst experience supporting a D365FO (or D365 F&SCM) implementation — requirements gathering, stakeholder interviews, and translating business needs into technical specifications. - Working knowledge of Power BI, plus excellent communication and collaboration skills across distributed, cross-functional teams. Additional Preferred Qualifications - Power BI development skills (DAX, data modeling, dashboard/report build-out). - Experience working alongside data engineering teams during active ERP implementations, including familiarity with ERP data replication patterns (e.g., Tier-2/Export to Data Lake, dbt, ETL/ELT tools). Location - Remote (Eastern Time zone / EST required) Engagement Type - 1-year contract
