Role Description The Database Design and Data Management professional is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and analyzing enterprise databases to ensure data integrity, accessibility, and performance across multiple applications. - Design logical and physical database structures. - Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise and workgroup databases. - Develop stored procedures and optimize database performance. - Perform database backups, recovery, and performance tuning. - Conduct data integration, mapping, and validation. - Collect, organize, and analyze datasets using statistical methods and machine learning tools. - Develop data visualization tools and analytical models to support decision-making. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. - Preferred coursework in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or Database management. Requirements - Minimum 2 years of full-time paid experience in database design, administration, data analysis, or data management. - Experience with enterprise data systems and distributed information systems.

• This position manages AWS RDS (MySQL 8.0 and PostgreSQL 15) databases that support large scale application workloads. • The DBA ensures the performance, reliability, and security of the data layer while collaborating closely with application engineering teams. • The role is responsible for managing, optimizing, and supporting the organization’s database environments, with emphasis on SQL query development and performance tuning. • The DBA serves as the primary escalation point for database and data related issues and works with internal teams to maintain dependable data access across applications. • The DBA also partners with customer care to troubleshoot reported problems and executes operational scripts as required.

• Administers, supports, secures, optimizes, and modernizes the databases and data repositories supporting POTS and its customer-wide procurement workflow, reporting, document-management, and enterprise-integration functions. • Administer and maintain POTS databases and associated data repositories. • Monitor database health, availability, capacity, performance, storage, and security. • Perform backup, recovery, restoration, patching, upgrades, and scheduled maintenance. • Troubleshoot database incidents, failed jobs, integration errors, blocking, deadlocks, and performance degradation. • Optimize schemas, indexes, stored procedures, queries, and database configurations. • Support consolidation of approximately 30 IC-specific databases into a unified enterprise platform when directed. • Support interfaces and data exchanges involving NBS, nVision, ServiceNow, DMS, NED, and approved third-party systems. • Maintain database documentation, data dictionaries, operational procedures, and recovery plans. • Support secure migration to cloud or modernized database environments. • Participate in Agile planning, release activities, testing, change management, and architecture reviews. • Protect procurement-sensitive, financial, personal, and proprietary data.

Role Description The University of Miami Health System (“UHealth”) IT Department has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Database Administrator. The Database Administrator maintains database by identifying and resolving requirements and supports users. The incumbent assumes responsibility for the performance, integrity, and security of applicable database(s). An employee in this position also oversees the planning and development of databases and troubleshoots any issues on behalf of users. - Manages the data dictionary of the enterprise. - Sets standards and controls the necessary infrastructure process associated with the database(s). - Provides troubleshooting and technical system support for the database programming group. - Provides senior technical leadership to database design teams, database programming groups, and IT. - Remains cognizant of the future direction of systems and on how that direction will impact the enterprise. - Serves as a source of documentation and standards to help direct the activities of IT as a whole. - Works closely with other IT groups to coordinate current and future plans and activities. - Provides reports on system problems and solutions and forecasts future utilization and equipment requirements. - Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion. - Makes presentations for local and national user groups. - Publishes articles describing both the enterprise’s activities and assessments of technology. - Collaborates with hardware and software vendors in the assessment of advanced transaction processing and database productions, including beta and field test participation. - Performs at or above the enterprise’s information technology performance standards. - Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. - Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures. Department Specific Functions: - Responsible for design, installation, management, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of database systems. - Develop and assist project managers and directors with the creation of task-level project plans that detail the specific tasks required to deliver a solution. - Develop, test, and implement system changes and upgrades. - Develop, test, and implement database system backup, restore and DR processes. - Document technical designs with charts, diagrams, schemas, and descriptive software component documentation.
