Role Description We're looking for a Sr. Gameplay Mechanics Designer for our rapid prototyping Skunk Works team. You'll be a major contributor to defining, building, implementing, and refining features and processes as part of a dedicated rapid prototyping effort. Responsibilities - Play a critical role in reviewing, clarifying and refining game concepts from a backlog. - Assess design requirements for each concept, working with the Skunk Works lead to quickly identify what features will be developed. - Accountable for the build stability and function of gameplay features, built in Unreal 5. - Maintain clear expectations on values, relationships and status of features within each prototype, and how it delivers upon the promise of each concept. - Own the 3Cs (character, controls, camera) ‘feel’ of each prototype. Qualifications - 10+ years of games industry experience with at least 3 shipped titles in Unreal. - Must have Unreal Engine 5 blueprint proficiency. - Experience balancing between speed and performance of blueprint-built prototypes. - Experience designing for mouse + keyboard, and controller interfaces. - Experience working with artists on rigging, state trees, BP implementations. - Solid communication and collaboration skills in a remote-first environment. - Service-based attitude. You thrill in bringing ideas to life, regardless of origin. - History with measuring success with features relative to their goals. Requirements - Practical C++ experience (Nice to Have). - Familiarity with the Poppy Playtime universe and its visual language (Nice to Have). - Experience with dynamic lighting and scripted cinematic sequences (Nice to Have). - Background in world / level design (Nice to Have). - Unreal 5 UI widget design (Nice to Have). Salary Range The base salary range for this position is listed below. Final compensation within the applicable salary range will be determined based on factors such as the applicant’s experience, qualifications, and work location. - San Francisco, CA; New York City, NY; Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA; Boston, MA; & DC Metropolitan Areas: $109,000–$137,000 USD annually. - Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; & Miami, FL Metropolitan Areas: $95,000-119,500 USD annually. - All Other U.S. Locations: $81,000–$101,000 USD annually.
