Position summary As a leader in technical innovation, you will define reusable technical strategies to transform mission-critical legacy systems into modern, scalable solutions. You will investigate new technologies, rapidly iterate on experiments to determine the most viable approach to problems, and envision new patterns for legacy system migration. You will coordinate across teams, guide architecture and implementation, and ensure that solutions meet business needs, technical standards, and long-term maintainability goals. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer with deep expertise in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to design, configure, and scale software solutions that support complex laboratory workflows. This role is ideal for someone who has worked hands-on with LIMS platforms such as Labbit, LabAdvantage, or similar systems, and who understands the nuances of clinical, molecular, and diagnostic lab operations. You will partner closely with laboratory stakeholders, product managers, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate real-world lab processes into reliable, compliant, and scalable software solutions. Lead the design, configuration, and customization of LIMS systems to support end-to-end laboratory workflows (sample accessioning, testing, results, reporting, QC, and data integration). Serve as a technical subject matter expert for LIMS workflows, lab operations, and healthcare terminology. Work directly with laboratory users to gather requirements, map workflows, and implement system configurations that improve efficiency and data quality. Build and maintain custom extensions, integrations, and automation around LIMS platforms using modern software engineering practices. Integrate LIMS with upstream and downstream systems (instruments, ELNs, EMRs/EHRs, data warehouses, APIs). Ensure systems meet regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11 where applicable).
