Senior Software Engineer – Small Business Technologies
H&R Block
• Design, develop, and maintain software components and products that support H&R Block business applications • Serve as the lead role for day-to-day functional tasks in the team • Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance, User Experience, and other teams • Create and execute unit tests and address defects • Mentor and coach team members • Drive technical decisions from concept through production • Own complex initiatives spanning multiple systems and teams • Advocate for automation across development, testing, deployment, and operational processes • Lead root cause analysis and resolution efforts for complex production issues
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience
- 5 years minimum related work experience with the following:
- React / TypeScript
- Node.js
- Python
- AWS
- REST APIs and event-driven architectures
- GitHub Actions and CI/CD tooling
- Infrastructure as Code
- Observability and Monitoring Platforms (Datadog preferred)
- AI-assisted software development tools and engineering automation platforms
- Building cloud-native and distributed systems
- Contributing to architecture and technical design decisions
- Mentoring engineers and promoting engineering best practices
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and drive outcomes in ambiguous environments
