Senior Software Engineer, Enterprise
TigerData (creators of TimescaleDB)
• Learning from and contributing to the design and development of TimescaleDB Enterprise, our on-prem deployment and management platform. • Developing core product capabilities under guidance, including: - management consoles and user-facing tooling (React + TypeScript) - backend APIs and services (Go) - deployment workflows and configuration management (Ansible) - operational tooling for production PostgreSQL databases - and customer administration experiences. • Writing tests at every level, from unit tests to automated end-to-end testing against real infrastructure. • Gaining experience in technical decisions across the product lifecycle, balancing speed, maintainability, and customer experience. • Working with senior engineers to understand operational requirements and translate them into pragmatic product solutions. • Implementing new features while learning to improve reliability, usability, and operational simplicity. • Collaborating with Platform Engineering and cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Support, and Sales Engineering. • Supporting the implementation of the long-term product and technical direction of the Enterprise platform. • Learning to operate effectively in ambiguous environments where priorities evolve and engineers are expected to drive clarity. • Leveraging AI tools daily to accelerate development, debugging, and product iteration workflows.
Job Requirements
- Foundational software engineering experience (roughly 1-3 years, including internships or substantial projects), ideally with exposure to backend services, developer platforms, or infrastructure tools.
- Working knowledge of Go or TypeScript, or a track record of picking up new languages quickly.
- Comfort with Linux fundamentals: the shell, SSH, services, containers, and basic networking.
- An interest in working across multiple layers of a system, from backend services to user-facing tooling.
- Familiarity and growing proficiency with AI coding tools.
- Basic knowledge of PostgreSQL, distributed systems, or deployment automation is a strong plus.
- Experience working in collaborative environments with other technical contributors.
