Crop Claims Field Adjuster I, Crop Claims Specialist
Zurich Insurance
• Completes field inspections and related responsibilities • Measures fields, storage bins, and discusses findings of crop loss with farmers • Conveys complex regulations and interpretations to claimants, agents, and industry people • Performs fact finding regarding crop damage, records information, and transmits loss information • Gather relevant facts utilizing applicable law and establishing basic principles of negligence • Complete claim reviews and audits on lower-level adjusters as assigned • Ensure legal compliance by maintaining a strong working knowledge of regulatory and company policies and procedures • Participate on projects as needed
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 6 or more months of experience in the agricultural area
- Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program Certification (CAPP) must be obtained within 180 days of hire date
- Reliable personal transportation and travel within territory
- Valid Driver’s License
- Walk in agricultural fields up to 3 miles, climb agricultural storage bins up to 25 feet, lift 25 lbs. to 50 lbs., work outdoors in varying temperatures/weather conditions
- 4 or more years of experience in the agricultural or crop insurance industry for Crop Claims Specialist position

• Obtain first notice of loss reports for non-complex auto and property claims through an Express Claim Center. • Handle customer questions about processes, policies, and next steps; update claim information accordingly. • May schedule inspections, dispatch mitigation vendors or contractors to customer property, or arrange temporary housing as needed. • Contact, or receive contact from, customers and other claim-related third parties to obtain and provide necessary file information in compliance with quality and process standards. • Receive, screen, and route incoming telephone calls and other electronic correspondence. • Take first notice of loss claims, explain the basic claim process, and provide general information to customers. • Retrieve, print, fax, or mail supporting documentation to vendors or others as directed. • Handle claim files (locate/request files, file paperwork, reconstruct missing files, correct misfiled documents, forward to other offices, etc.). • Perform clerical duties, including data entry, filing paper documents, managing email and calendars, and word processing.
