Our Banno Financial Platform group is seeking a talented Android Engineer to help us provide the most cutting-edge mobile banking products to financial institutions across the country. You'll join a team of supportive and talented individuals creating and enhancing products and services, with individual ownership of projects and tasks combined with a collaborative culture to ensure quality and an atmosphere of learning. This is a remote position, and candidates must live within approximately a 70-mile radius of our office locations in Allen, TX; Cedar Falls, IA; Charlotte, NC; Birmingham, AL; Louisville, KY; Lenexa, KS; Springfield, MO; or Monett, MO. The salary range for this position is $80,350- $120,000 and will be determined based on location and experience level. All positions, regardless of location, may require an onsite interview or in-person onboarding requirement to verify your identity. What you'll be responsible for: - Completes product technical design and prototyping, software development, bug verification and resolution. - Performs system analysis and programming activities which may require research and timely, effective, and quality delivery of software into production. - Provides technical/engineering support for new and existing applications from code delivery until the retirement of the application. - Develops and tests applications based on business requirements and industry best practices. - Uses best practices and standard guidance to create and modify code. Considers how code changes will affect end users and internal teams. - Collaborates with QA team to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products. - Participates in cross team projects as needed. • Works on critical tasks and deliverables with minimal assistance, and sets and updates expectations on size, scope, and timelines. - May represent team in cross-team meetings and discussions. - Adheres to documented departmental and corporate standards. Participates in the definition and documentation of standards. - Performs other duties as assigned. - Plans unit tests and integration tests to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of developed software. - Debugs and troubleshoots issues as they arise, providing timely resolutions. - May perform other job duties as assigned. What you'll need to have: - Minimum of 4 years of experience of Android engineering, including experience with Java and/or Kotlin. - Minimum of 18 months of experience of Android engineering. - Knowledge of the Android ecosystem including applications, deployments, and security. What would be nice for you to have: - Bachelor's degree. - Experience in the fintech industry. - Experience with Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines, and persistence using Room. - Experience with GitHub Actions. Role Description As the senior Android developer for ShareTheMeal's mobile engineering team, support and execute the mobile technology strategy, to enable the organization to scale from 1.9M to 10M+ users while maintaining exceptional user experience and operational efficiency impacting an annual revenue of $30 million USD. Accountabilities / Responsibilities - Technical Leadership and Architecture: - Architect and implement secure, scalable Android solutions using modern Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Coroutines. - Own the Android application architecture, ensuring performance, maintainability, and alignment with platform best practices. - Lead code reviews and establish coding standards across the Android codebase. - Drive and document technical decisions for team alignment and future maintainability. - Quality and Operations: - Establish comprehensive testing strategies using JUnit and Maestro; maintain high test coverage. - Own CI/CD pipelines, ensuring reliable and efficient release processes. - Monitor production health via Sentry; lead incident response and root cause analysis. - Team Development: - Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance. - Lead technical initiatives from conception through delivery. - Champion engineering best practices that improve team velocity and code quality. - Strategy and Collaboration: - Shape the Mobile Tech Strategy and roadmap alongside engineering leadership. - Partner with Product to translate requirements into robust technical solutions. - Identify and drive innovation opportunities that improve system quality and delivery speed.
