• play a critical part in defining architectural direction, leading technical initiatives, and designing scalable features. • focus on developing innovative solutions that integrate multiple Mapbox SDKs (Navigation, Maps, and Search), enabling customer applications to deploy quickly and efficiently. • Defining and Overseeing the implementation of large-scale, cross-functional projects and initiatives. • Ensuring quality by driving improvements in our development processes, code quality standards, and best practices across teams • Engaging in technical conversations and decisions that affect long-term strategic direction and scalability. • Acting as a technical mentor and resource for the team, fostering professional development and knowledge-sharing. • participate in hands-on development work to maintain high-quality standards across our SDKs.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience with native technologies, such as Kotlin and Java.
  • Demonstrated history of shipping complex Android applications and SDKs.
  • Experience with testing methodologies and frameworks.
  • Focus on usability and great user experience.
  • Desire to build frameworks and developer tools.
  • Desire to learn and to teach.
  • Passion to earn and keep customer trust.
  • Readiness to go deep in the Android stack and navigate AOSP code when needed.
  • Experience debugging and profiling to resolve performance issues is a plus.
  • Familiarity with or a desire to learn more about C++ is a plus.
  • Fluency in English (C1 level minimum) is required for daily stakeholder communication.

Role Description As the senior Android developer for ShareTheMeal's mobile engineering team, support and execute the mobile technology strategy, to enable the organization to scale from 1.9M to 10M+ users while maintaining exceptional user experience and operational efficiency impacting an annual revenue of $30 million USD. Accountabilities / Responsibilities - Technical Leadership and Architecture: - Architect and implement secure, scalable Android solutions using modern Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Coroutines. - Own the Android application architecture, ensuring performance, maintainability, and alignment with platform best practices. - Lead code reviews and establish coding standards across the Android codebase. - Drive and document technical decisions for team alignment and future maintainability. - Quality and Operations: - Establish comprehensive testing strategies using JUnit and Maestro; maintain high test coverage. - Own CI/CD pipelines, ensuring reliable and efficient release processes. - Monitor production health via Sentry; lead incident response and root cause analysis. - Team Development: - Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance. - Lead technical initiatives from conception through delivery. - Champion engineering best practices that improve team velocity and code quality. - Strategy and Collaboration: - Shape the Mobile Tech Strategy and roadmap alongside engineering leadership. - Partner with Product to translate requirements into robust technical solutions. - Identify and drive innovation opportunities that improve system quality and delivery speed. Qualifications - University degree in computer science or related field. - At least 4 years of experience in developing and designing Android native apps designed to serve thousands or more active users. Requirements - Proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android development patterns; understanding of iOS (Swift) is a plus. - Strong knowledge of Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and other frameworks. - Experience with Android architecture patterns (MVVM, MVP, Clean Architecture). - Experience with Google Play submission process. - Knowledge of Unit Testing, UI Testing (Maestro), and Test-Driven Development. - Understanding of mobile app performance optimization techniques. - Experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes. - Familiarity with mobile analytics, crash reporting, and monitoring tools. - Embracing principles of clean code, test-driven development, and clean architecture. - Experience with agile development processes and cross-functional team collaboration.
