Role Description YAMU Media is looking for AI Performance Video Editors (1 to 2 positions) to join our team. This role is open to candidates worldwide — onshore and offshore. This is not a general video editing role. We are looking for editors who specialize in one thing: making ads that perform. The right person has a deep, working understanding of what keeps a viewer watching and what loses them. You know that every editing decision — the hook, the cut, the caption placement, the re-hook at the 8-second mark — either earns the viewer's attention or costs it. You have built a large library of winning ads to prove it, and you use AI tools as a core part of how you work, not as an add-on. You will work directly with paid media strategists to produce creative that is tested in live Meta campaigns. Your output is measured by hold rate, completion rate, and conversions — not by how polished the edit looks. Key Responsibilities - Edit high-performing video ads for Meta, TikTok, and other performance channels, with Meta as the primary focus. - Build hooks that stop the scroll in the first two seconds — this is the single most important edit decision in every video. - Structure videos for maximum hold rate: know when to cut, when to hold, and how to re-hook viewers at drop-off points before they leave. - Apply pattern interrupts strategically throughout the video to maintain attention through the full runtime. - Execute caption styling that reinforces retention — placement, timing, font weight, and emphasis are all editorial decisions. - Manage pacing per platform and per objective — a top-of-funnel awareness video is edited differently than a retargeting ad for cart abandoners. - Work inside AI-driven workflows to accelerate production without sacrificing quality. - Build multiple creative variations per asset to support structured testing — hook variations, CTA variations, pacing variations. - Review ad performance data alongside paid media strategists and use hold rate and drop-off data to inform the next edit. - Maintain an organized library of winning ads, categorized by hook type, format, and performance outcome. Must Understand - Hooks: what visually and audibly stops a scroll in the first two seconds, and why some hooks hold and others lose the viewer immediately. - Hold rate: how editing decisions affect how long a viewer stays — cuts, pacing, music, caption timing, and delivery all change the curve. - Retention: how to structure a video so the viewer is more likely to stay through to the CTA, not just the first five seconds. - Pacing: how to calibrate the speed of an edit to the platform, the audience, and the objective — fast is not always better. - Captions: how caption design and timing affects both accessibility and retention, and why caption styling is an editorial decision, not a formatting task. - Pattern interrupts: how to use visual and auditory changes to recapture a viewer's attention when drop-off typically occurs. - Re-hooks: how to rebuild curiosity or narrative tension mid-video to bring back viewers who are about to leave. - AI tools in the creative workflow: which tools accelerate editing, asset generation, and iteration. Qualifications - Minimum 3 years of video editing experience with a primary focus on paid advertising, not general content creation. - Extensive Meta ads editing experience — you have edited a significant volume of ads that ran in live campaigns. - Heavy AI workflow experience — you use AI tools actively and specifically in your editing process. - Expert-level understanding of hooks, hold rate, retention, pacing, captions, pattern interrupts, and re-hooks. - Large portfolio of winning ads with performance data required. - Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or Premiere Pro — at least two of the three. - Proven experience working with high-growth ecommerce brands in a performance advertising context. - Strong communication skills — you are collaborating with strategists and UGC teams. - Ability to manage multiple simultaneous edits under tight turnaround without dropping quality. - Existing network of creative specialists — editors, motion designers, or AI tool experts. Your Attributes - You take extreme ownership with your work and see tasks and projects through to completion. - Unique thinker and collaborator who can engage others. - Customer-driven mindset: you strive to see everything through the lens of our client's target customers. - Sales-driven mindset: you strive to see everything through the lens of our client's sales teams. - Entrepreneurial instincts: you are a proactive self-starter with a solution-oriented attitude. - Insatiable drive to succeed. - Solicits and welcomes feedback. - Highly adaptable; welcomes change and can thrive in a high-growth start-up environment. Bonus Skills - Familiarity with hook testing methodology and how to structure creative variations. - Motion graphics capability — can add text animations, graphic overlays, or simple motion elements. - Experience with YouTube long-form ads or VSLs edited for retention, not just engagement. Benefits - Fully Remote work. - Become part of a team of smart, open-minded people with individual qualities. - Opportunities to grow into leadership roles. - Supportive, flexible work arrangements to help maintain a healthy work-life balance. - Fast-paced and agile start-up environment with quick decision-making. - Commitment to life-long learning and supporting the development of our team. Salary - Negotiable based on experience, with a 3-month trial period. - Salaries at YAMU are uncapped and are periodically reviewed and increased based on performance and market conditions. - After six months of employment, you will be eligible for commission.
