Senior Commercial Title Examiner

First American

• Perform title examinations and examine the chain of title for a wide range of commercial title matters/issues • Analyze records, such as mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plat and map books, to determine ownership and legal restrictions and to verify legal description of property and completeness of records • Resolves most issues, such as missing information, incomplete, inaccurate, or contradictory information contained in the title documentation • Review title commitments for accuracy and make necessary revisions • May provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelines • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • 7 + years Commercial title examination experience, previous MI experience required
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and provide timely follow up
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with internal and external customers
  • Natural curiosity, enjoys researching the history and background of transactions, analyzing, and evaluating records
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Role Description TitleWave Real Estate Solutions, a division of Fidelity National Financial (FNF), is seeking a residential Title Examiner to join our Wisconsin team. In this full-time role, you are responsible for delivering accurate, professional title reports while maintaining a high level of productivity. This role requires evaluating risk and liabilities in accordance with policy provisions and providing final title products based on verified facts and documentation. Must have Wisconsin search/examine experience. Location: This position is remote and must be based in the US. Work visa sponsorship will not be considered. Duties & Responsibilities - Examine title orders in accordance with company guidelines to determine title conditions by analyzing mortgages, liens, judgments, and other pertinent records to verify ownership, legal restrictions, and legal descriptions. - Review final products to ensure compliance with quality standards. - Clearly explain chain of title, exceptions, and requirements to customers and managers. - Identify and assess risks and liabilities that may jeopardize the Company and escalate, as appropriate. - Prepare accurate and comprehensive title search abstracts and title reports in accordance with Company policies and examining procedures. - Request and track documentation or corrective action necessary to resolve deficiencies in title search packages prior to release. - Maintain compliance with Company policies, procedures and good housekeeping practices. - Other duties as assigned.
