Software Business Analyst
Jahnel Group
Role Description We're looking for a Software Business Analyst to join our team. This is a highly collaborative, customer-facing role where you'll work directly with clients, stakeholders, developers, QA engineers, and product teams to transform business needs into well-defined software solutions. The ideal candidate enjoys asking the right questions, uncovering business problems, and translating complex requirements into actionable user stories that development teams can confidently deliver. You'll play a key role throughout the entire software development lifecycle—from discovery and requirements gathering through testing, demonstrations, and continuous product improvement. Primary Responsibilities - Partner directly with external clients and internal stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business and software requirements. - Facilitate discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and workflow analysis to understand business processes and identify opportunities for improvement. - Translate business needs into clear user stories, functional requirements, and detailed acceptance criteria within Agile environments. - Create process flows, wireframes, mockups, and supporting documentation that help development teams understand proposed solutions. - Maintain requirement traceability throughout the software development lifecycle. - Serve as the primary point of clarification for developers during implementation. - Collaborate closely with QA teams to define test plans, user acceptance testing (UAT) scenarios, and feature validation. - Support UAT execution, defect triage, and validation of completed work against business requirements. - Lead software demonstrations with clients and stakeholders, gather feedback, and refine requirements as needed. - Communicate requirement updates, project risks, scope changes, and timeline impacts across cross-functional teams. - Analyze client feedback, support requests, and product usage trends to identify usability improvements and future enhancements. - Continuously evaluate existing workflows and recommend improvements that enhance user experience and overall product quality. - Occasionally travel (up to 10%) for client discovery sessions, workshops, or meetings. Qualifications - 5+ years of Business Analyst experience within software development environments. - Proven experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria in Agile/Scrum teams. - Strong experience working directly with external clients and business stakeholders. - Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and relationship-building skills. - Experience with Agile project management and ticketing tools such as Jira, YouTrack, or similar platforms. - Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. - Ability to understand business processes and translate them into functional software requirements. - Comfortable collaborating with software engineers, QA teams, Product Owners, and business stakeholders. - Experience creating process flows, user journeys, wireframes, or mockups using tools such as Lucidchart, Miro, Balsamiq, or similar. - Familiarity with relational databases and the ability to understand data structures and business logic. - Understanding of SQL and the ability to read or analyze queries is preferred. - Experience working within financial services, claims processing, regulatory software, or other enterprise software environments is a plus. - Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and Outlook. - Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and able to prioritize multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment. - Bachelor's degree in a related field. - Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship. Requirements - Enjoys working directly with customers and building trusted relationships. - Asks thoughtful questions and uncovers the "why" behind business requests. - Thrives in collaborative environments and communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. - Takes ownership of requirements from discovery through successful delivery. - Pays close attention to detail while maintaining a big-picture understanding of business objectives. - Thinks proactively, identifies potential gaps early, and helps prevent downstream issues. - Uses data and customer feedback to continuously improve products and user experiences. - Enjoys solving business problems just as much as documenting software requirements. Benefits - Salary Range: $125,000 - $140,000+ - Salary is negotiable and the range can be increased based on qualifications, certifications, and experience. - Free Health Insurance Option for all (Single, 2 - Party and Family). - 401k Safe Harbor Plan. - Generous PTO. - Maternity / Paternity Leave. - Revenue Sharing Incentive. - Certification Reimbursement and Bounty Programs.
