Data Analyst I Location: Remote (Virginia, Tennessee, or North Carolina, USA) Employment Type: Full-time Work Arrangement: Remote (Office and hybrid options available in Blacksburg, Virginia) Experience Level: Entry Level (0–2 years) Salary: $54,157 - $72,351 USD annually Job Description: A Data Analyst I at Modea plays a foundational role in supporting full-funnel, holistic digital experience solutions for our healthcare clients. Working under moderate to extensive supervision within a collaborative, cross-functional consulting team, you will learn to measure and optimize the entire end-to-end patient journey. This includes tracking how users discover a brand via traditional Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), understanding how they interact with our clients' digital products (websites and mobile applications), and ultimately determining which channels and experiences drive the most value for our clients. This position serves as an entry-level pathway to developing hands-on expertise in tag management, product analytics, search visibility measurement, and data storytelling. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Discovery & Visibility Support (SEO/GEO) - Run foundational SEO and GEO audits to track organic keyword rankings, technical health, and client visibility across traditional search engines and generative AI search platforms. - Assist in monitoring and reporting on organic search footprints using tools like Google Search Console, SEMrush, or specialized AI-citation tracking tools. - Help identify content optimization opportunities based on search intent data and healthcare consumer behavior trends. Analytics Implementation and Support - Assist in setting up, configuring, and testing tracking tags and scripts on healthcare websites and mobile apps using tools like Google Tag Manager, Freshpaint, or Tealium. - Help maintain client tracking plans, event naming conventions, and data taxonomies under the guidance of senior team members to ensure smooth, full-journey data collection. - Ensure all data collection tasks adhere to strict quality standards and foundational HIPAA compliance guidelines. Data Analysis and Reporting - Conduct basic UX or user behavior analyses to investigate user behavior patterns, entry paths, and conversion trends on web and app properties. - Build, update, and maintain holistic reporting dashboards using platforms like GA4, Heap, or Looker Studio to deliver clear, actionable data to internal teams and clients. - Develop growing technical skills as a coder, using SQL, R, or Python to clean, transform, and extract data from established search and analytics APIs. Consulting, Communication, and Account Management - Work comfortably within a cross-functional team environment, managing tasks efficiently and logging time accurately in accordance with Modea’s best practices. - Present basic findings, search performance updates, and data reports to internal teams and external clients with moderate support from managers or senior analysts. - Help build and maintain strong relationships between Modea's internal teams and client stakeholders through reliable, high-quality execution of analytics requests. A successful Analyst I will demonstrate the following qualities: - Curiosity: Our clients often have unpredictable questions, and analysts should be both self-directed in generating their own queries and areas for investigation as well as interested in digging into client questions for ad-hoc reporting and great service. - Adaptability: Our toolkit is changing regularly, and our clients often use a wide range of tools across a range of engagements. An ability to work with varied tools, concepts, and datasets is key. - Excellent communication skills: We ask analysts to present their findings and results to clients and to internal teams frequently and through a range of methods (oral, written, visual). Communicating the work is a huge part of the consultant’s job! Qualifications Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. - 0–2 years of experience with digital analytics, search marketing, or a related analytical field (relevant internship experience applies). - Foundational understanding of data analysis concepts, including data cleaning, transformation, and interpretation. - Strong oral and written communication skills with a desire to learn to present data clearly and conversationally. Preferred Qualifications - Tool Familiarity: Familiarity or certification in GA4 and Google Tag Manager. Exposure to or interest in broader enterprise platforms (e.g., Heap, Tealium, Freshpaint, Adobe CJA) is a major plus. - Data via Code: Basic experience or coursework in data analysis via code (SQL, R, and/or Python), with a strong willingness to learn and expand programming skills. - Full-Funnel Interest: A keen interest in the intersection of organic search (SEO/GEO), user behavior, and digital product experience. - Agency Mindset: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced agency or consulting environment. Who is Modea? We are a technology consultancy with a mission to infuse greater control, transparency, and choice into the consumer healthcare experience. To do this, we work with large healthcare providers to help them build out a digital roadmap, then design and build mobile, web, and other digital experiences. We fundamentally believe that this work helps consumers have better information and access to care, and our clients to build stronger customer relationships. Here are a few ways to get to know our work in healthcare: - Learn about our award-winning EHR-integrated mobile app development for Children’s Wisconsin. This app delivers a fully integrated MyChart to allow parents to manage their children’s health in one place. - Discover Luminis Health’s website development that was built with a firm accessibility standard and patient-centric solutions. - If you’re interested in learning more, we encourage you to dive into some of our other work. Here are a few other reasons why you should apply: First, you’ll love the work we do and the people you’ll get to do it with. We’ve assembled an exceptionally smart and hardworking team and you’ll enjoy the work associations and general camaraderie with other “Modeans.” We also work with great clients who value our contributions and work side-by-side with us. Second, Modea offers a great benefits package that provides both a fun and enjoyable workplace and great perks that will improve your quality of life: - Generous paid time off - Generous health, dental, and vision insurance - 401k with fully vested company matching - Long-term & short-term disability Some of these benefits, like parties and snacks, have had to adapt to the remote work environment we are currently in, but our operations team has found innovative ways to support our employees. We offer a modern office located in Blacksburg, VA. Our office provides an indoor space with moderate temperatures and noise levels. This allows employees to choose a fully-office, fully-remote, or hybrid work experience. Employees may occasionally need to travel to our offices or other locations for items such as training or client visits. We will also provide employees with tools to do their job at home as well as in the office. Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position during the duration of the workday. Individuals must have the ability to constantly operate a computer. Must have the ability to converse with and exchange information with clients and coworkers both in person and through a computer. Capable of occasionally transporting items of 10 lbs or less to and from the office.
