Senior Compliance Specialist
Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
Role Description The Sr Compliance Specialist will support the Hospital Compliance Program with a specific focus on the institution-wide conflicts of interest program. Key areas of responsibility include: - Overall management and ownership of the program. - Review of faculty consulting agreements. - Education and training to staff on compliance and conflicts of interest. - Assisting in or leading compliance investigations. - Managing projects to support the annual compliance plan. What you will do: - Manage day-to-day functions of the enterprise-wide Conflict of Interest program, including: - Collection and review of all annual and project-specific conflicts disclosures from administrative, medical, and research staff. - Providing education and training on the conflicts of interest program to other departments and disclosers. - Maintaining databases of research and consulting agreement conflict reviews. - Assisting disclosers with questions about the COI program. - Maintaining and updating the conflict of interest intranet site. - Creating, maintaining, and tracking COI activity through databases. - Reporting on activities of the program. - Review all proposed agreements from companies wishing to retain faculty for consulting activities. - Draft and issue COI determination letters and management plans. - Correspond and negotiate with outside companies to finalize agreements protective of CHOP’s interests. - Conduct and document conflict of interest reviews of certain research projects. - Draft and issue formal management plans and monitor compliance with those plans. - Other responsibilities may include: - Staffing and supporting the Conflict of Interest Committee and other COI-related committees. - Maintaining expertise in all regulatory and external events related to conflicts of interest. - Assisting in activities required to implement the annual compliance and privacy work plans. - Serving as a resource for faculty, leadership, and various offices and departments on the conflict of interest program. Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree - Required - Doctorate Juris Doctorate (JD) in Paralegal Studies - Preferred Requirements - At least six (6) years of work experience in a professional capacity, with increasing levels of responsibility - Required - At least ten (10) years prior experience in a compliance or healthcare-related office - Preferred Skills and Abilities - Exemplary ethical principles. - Precision and excellent attention to detail in performing work. - Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines. - Superior interpersonal skills, including individual interaction and written communication. - Ability to operate efficiently and responsively with competing priorities. - Ability to handle confidential materials. - Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills. - Good judgement. - Ability to support collaborative efforts within and outside the department. - Customer-service oriented. - Proficiency with Outlook and MS Office (Word/Excel/Power Point/Access) required. - Proficiency with data collection, analytics, and reporting highly preferred. - Eagerness to learn new areas and develop additional skills and expertise.
