Role Description Walmart Global Tech is looking for Software Engineers to help our holiday traffic throttling project. Walmart sites experience enormous load during November sales events and other special events. We need help with scaling, developing features & automating our deployments in LIVE. This is a remote role, not in the office. The team you are working with is distributed across the world, but the main working hours are US Pacific time. You will communicate via Slack, email, and Zoom meetings. Areas of Responsibility - Understand how traffic is routed to services in private & public cloud. - Implement large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects. - Experience troubleshooting LIVE sites issues, especially networking and understanding root cause analysis. Enhancing design to prevent re-occurrences of defects. - Documents testing and maintenance of application corrections and improvements. - Supports business objectives and ensures the business needs are being met. - Understand good engineering discipline of writing and developing system level code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with project team and cross-functional teams. - Experience with some of the following technologies: Itsio, L7 proxies (Envoy, apigee, api proxy or other proxies), eBPF, service mesh, configuration management and GitOps. Qualifications - Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent. - Experience with terraform, ansible, CI/CD pipelines. - 7+ years of professional backend experience; you will mostly be working on servers. - Proficiency with Go, C++, Java or another server-side programming language. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. Communicating with engineers is a part of the job. - Willing to dive into unfamiliar things. Sometimes bugs or features require us to dig into TCP/IP, the DNS spec, Walmart's logging infrastructure, Linux system administration, and more. - Experience with running infrastructure solutions across private and public cloud environments (Azure, GCP, AWS). - Comfortable working on a fully remote team. Requirements - Experience with Golang, server development.
