Role Description Under the direction of the USL Technology & Data Strategy team, the Business Intelligence UWEP supports the department by assisting with maintaining and developing league-wide dashboards. The Participant will assume an integral role in the production of data analytics and distribution of the results. Duties and Responsibilities - Assist with the routine collection of data and updating of established Tableau dashboards. - Build Tableau dashboards to track performance in key metrics towards league goals and initiatives. - Identify opportunities to implement procedures for new data collection processes and/or data reporting. - Translate data across key revenue-driving verticals (e.g., ticketing, corporate partnerships, and consumer products) into targeted analyses, providing insights and recommendations to critical organizational stakeholders that lead to actionable business decisions. - Support ad-hoc requests for data; build reports, visualizations, executive dashboards, and presentations. - Act in a quality assurance role to ensure dashboards/reports are functioning correctly and to provide any recommendations for improvements. - Assist other departments and operational areas as requested to provide a well-rounded overview of working in sports. Qualifications - Participants must be working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field and/or training and must certify that they are able to receive college course credit from an accredited college or university for their participation. - Solid computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook are a must. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. - Positive attitude and strong work ethic are a must. Must have a “team-first” mentality with an eagerness to learn. - Should be extremely organized and detail oriented, with a focus on quality and consistency. - While completing the USL Work Experience Program remotely, participants must have access to a computer or laptop with reliable internet connection. - Familiarity of Tableau, or another data visualization software. - Familiarity of SQL, or other programming languages. • Architect, build, and optimize distributed data pipelines using Apache Spark in a high‑volume, mission‑critical environment. • Design and maintain enterprise Lakehouse architecture with Delta Lake, ensuring ACID compliance, lineage, auditability, and data governance. • Develop automated ingestion frameworks (batch, streaming, and event‑driven) across multiple cloud services and integration points. • Enable machine‑learning workflows by preparing feature‑ready datasets and establishing reproducible ML deployment patterns. • Lead platform‑wide data quality, access control, and cataloging frameworks. • Implement advanced cost‑optimization, cluster tuning, and performance engineering strategies. • Collaborate with Finance, BI, Operations, and ML teams to translate complex business needs into scalable data solutions. • Own production reliability, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis for data and ML pipelines.

• Build, maintain, and optimize dashboards, reports, and data models using Power BI and other visualization tools. • Design, build, and maintain data ETL pipelines from sources such as SQL databases, SharePoint, and Excel • Collaborate with end users and technical resources to understand and integrate data outputs into visualizations effectively. • Translate complex data findings into clear, digestible insights for stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making. • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across reports and dashboards.

• Provide first hand support to business units with respect to their adhoc data and reporting requests • Works with internal and external customers and suppliers to understand the business requirements behind requested computing initiatives • Develops and deploys reports and dashboards in SSRS and Power BI • Provide inputs on data sources and quality into high-level data flow architecture • Design and develop ETL and integration solutions • Implement design patterns and industry best-practices to develop secure robust integration applications • Actively collaborate with developers and other project resources • Questions existing processes and procedures (both administrative and technical), and offers suggestions and opinions for continuous improvement. • Communicates technical ideas and concepts in non-technical language to the business. • Takes directions from and works with senior members of the development team on projects and tasks • Adheres to and promotes the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL. • Ability to effectively communicate with and educate business users and mid/senior management about data warehousing/business intelligence technology in business terms.
