Director of Payroll

Role Description HealthPro Heritage is looking for a Director of Payroll to join our organization! - Provides strategic direction to the payroll department ensuring that all payroll data is accurately gathered and all associates are properly paid. - Supervises day-to-day operations by reviewing and approving daily activities ensuring compliance with all applicable laws both state and federal. - Holds department accountable for achieving accurate and timely payroll and PTO accruals. - Monitors and assists in resolution of escalated internal payroll issues and garnishment requirements. - Assists with balance sheet reconciliation and issue resolution. - Continuous education & development to remain knowledgeable on current payroll rules and regulations. - Ensures team is properly staffed, supervised and trained, and held to certain performance targets. - Mentors and develops team members. - Develops relationship with IT and HR team that allows for continued process improvements in order to create efficiencies and eliminate potential exceptions. - Conducts briefing and meetings for management. Qualifications - 10+ years of demonstrated work experience in payroll, large volume payroll preferred (2,000+ employees). - Demonstrated experience in managing a payroll department with multi-state processing. - Knowledge of payroll software; UKG preferred. - Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook. - Strong customer focus and customer service skills. - Foster an environment of ethical behavior and accountability within the team. - Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to all company policies, as well as initiate policy changes where needed. - Experience presenting and interacting with C-level executives. - Familiarity with labor legislation and payroll tax laws. - Demonstrated experience managing large complex accounts or projects. - Must be detail-oriented with a concern for quality expressed by continually initiating system and process improvements. - Experience solving difficult business issues with creative solutions. - Ability to drive enterprise-wide strategies and goals. - Strong conceptual and analytical skills. - Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with all levels of company personnel. - Ability to coach and develop a team. This role will serve as a key member providing comprehensive payroll and benefits support. Recruiter Note: This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in the DMV area (District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia).
