Freelance Social Media Associate

Newsweek

• Post and manage content across Newsweek’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky, Threads, WhatsApp, Reddit and LinkedIn). • Monitor comments and trends; respond appropriately to foster community interaction. • Collaborate with editors to amplify breaking news and trending stories during weekend hours. • Track performance of weekend content and provide insights to the social media team. • Ensure all posts reflect Newsweek’s voice, editorial standards, and visual identity. • Communicate with editorial and digital teams to align social strategy with newsroom priorities.

Job Requirements

  • Prior experience managing social media accounts for a brand, publication, or organization.
  • Strong understanding of social platforms, trends, and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and make quick editorial judgments.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Weekend availability is required.
  • While this is a remote position, the candidate must be US-based
