You will initially be rolling up your sleeves to help drive the development of a new, end-to-end title operations process while collaboratively identifying product and technical opportunities to enhance the customer experience and operational efficiency of our new process. Then you will lead the charge for testing and iterating on these processes while closing commercial, national title transactions. As a Commercial Underwriting Counsel, you will: - Drive the development of a new, end-to-end operational process for title transactions. - Work on a remote team using technology and virtual communication. - Run all technical aspects of a commercial title transaction - from underwriting to post-close - with significant operational support. - Use data to drive decision making and continual process improvements. Core traits we're looking for: - Seeks to execute. - Works independently, while routinely checking in with the team. - Works effectively in ambiguous circumstances, seeking clarity through asking questions. - Possesses willingness to try a solution rather than assuming. - Operates with a process-oriented mind. Your qualifications: - General understanding of underwriting regional or national commercial real estate transactions for the issuance of title insurance policies. - 5-10 years title underwriting experience. - Excellent verbal and written communication. - Has a successful history of managing and serving customers. - Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admitted to the bar in at least one US state Why Join Our Team: - You'll join the ground floor of a transformative business where you can make an impact. - You'll be entrusted with responsibility and autonomy in your day-to-day work. - We offer competitive compensation; an annual, performance-based bonus; and long-term incentive plans. - Customizable benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, and 401K Match. - Virtual and in-person team events. Note that the following statements only apply to candidates who will be working from an unincorporated area within Los Angeles County. First American will consider for employment all qualified applicants, including those with arrest or conviction records, in a manner consistent with the requirements of applicable state and local laws (e.g., the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act). First American intends to conduct a review of an applicant's criminal history in connection with a conditional offer. First American reasonably believes that a criminal history may have a direct, adverse and negative relationship with the following material job duties for this position potentially resulting in the withdrawal of the conditional offer of employment: handling of confidential, proprietary or trade secret information belonging to First American or its customers, administrating or facilitating financial transactions, and the ability to meet customer-imposed criminal history requirements. What We Offer By choice, we don't simply accept individuality - we embrace it, we support it, and we thrive on it! We are proud to foster an authentic and inclusive workplace For All. You are free and encouraged to bring your entire, unique self to work.
