Description PURE
Role Description PURE is a global dating app committed to bringing honesty and fun into the dating world. We're looking for a Legal Advisor, Trust & Safety to sit at the intersection of platform regulation, privacy law, and online safety compliance. You will advise PURE’s Trust & Safety and Product teams on the legal and regulatory obligations that shape how we build and operate safety features for a sex-positive, adults-only dating app. What will you do? - Navigate Age Assurance & Verification Law: Monitor and interpret the fast-moving global landscape, translating strict deadlines into concrete product and operational requirements. - Manage Biometric & Privacy Compliance: Oversee privacy compliance as it applies to identity and photo verification, ensuring data minimization and compliant retention schedules for our verification vendors. - Handle Child Safety Obligations: Oversee our CSAM detection, reporting, and preservation duties, while managing underage account incidents with absolute precision. - Steer Platform Regulation: Own compliance for global platform laws, including the EU Digital Services Act and dating-app-specific legislation. - Oversee Law Enforcement & Government Requests: Define the legal basis for disclosures and provide clear guidance to the moderation team on high-priority escalations. - Govern Content Policy & Moderation Legality: Advise on ban/appeal processes and ensure the legal defensibility of our enforcement decisions. - Drive Horizon Scanning: Proactively flag new legislation and enforcement trends across our top 20 markets, delivering practical guidance. Qualifications - Qualified lawyer with 5+ years of experience in tech and platform regulation. - Deep familiarity with GDPR and EU platform law. - Strong working knowledge of US state-level online safety/privacy legislation and the UK OSA. - Direct experience advising Trust & Safety or content moderation teams. - Comfortable working with adult content and sex-positive products. - Able to give operational, risk-calibrated, and highly actionable advice to non-lawyers. Requirements - Experience in a dating app, social platform, UGC service, or a law firm advising them. - Multi-jurisdiction comfort is essential. - Ability to draft clear user- and regulator-facing language.
