Tutor Assistant / Assessor - Tourism & Travel Management

Role Description New Zealand School of Tourism (NZST) is seeking an experienced and learner-focused Workplace Practice Tutor / Assessor to support the online delivery of our workplace practice course for Level 5 Diploma in Tourism & Travel Management (TTM) programme. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive online learning environment, helping learners succeed through quality assessment, academic guidance, and ongoing pastoral support. - Assess learner work in line with approved marking guides, rubrics, and grade descriptors. - Provide timely, constructive feedback and support learners with assessment and course-related queries. - Manage assessment administration, including Turnitin submissions, similarity reports, resubmissions, learner records, and required documentation. - Monitor learner engagement, attendance, and participation, providing proactive support to learners who may be at risk of disengaging. - Respond promptly to learner enquiries and communicate effectively with learners, tutors, team leaders, and support teams. - Monitor and manage academic integrity matters, including AI-flagged assessments and other integrity concerns. - Identify opportunities to improve learning materials and assessments, contributing to quality assurance and programme improvement initiatives. - Provide additional support and cover during periods of annual or sick leave, where required. Qualifications - Experience teaching, tutoring, training, assessing, or providing learner support within a tertiary education environment. - Industry experience in tourism, travel, hospitality, or a closely related field. - Strong written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback. - Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities. - The ability to build positive relationships and support learners throughout their academic journey. - Confidence using online learning platforms and digital tools. - A learner-centred approach, with a strong commitment to academic quality, learner success, and continuous improvement.
