Coding Document Education Specialist
Gundersen Health System
We are hiring for a Coding & Documentation Education Specialist! This position requires strong expertise in CPT and ICD coding, clinical documentation, and revenue integrity. Deliver ICD‑10, CPT, charge capture, and documentation education to providers and clinical leaders to ensure compliance with payer regulations. Conduct documentation and coding quality reviews, analyze performance trends, and provide feedback to support accurate and optimized reimbursement. Serve as a subject‑matter expert in CPT, HCPCS, ICD‑10, and payer policies, partnering with Revenue Cycle, CDI, and Compliance teams. Respond to consultation requests by analyzing documentation, coding, billing, and denials trends and providing recommendations. Communicate complex information clearly through written reports, presentations, and provider education sessions.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 3–4 years of experience in healthcare coding, billing, insurance follow‑up, or reimbursement
- One of the following certifications: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Certified Coding Specialist – Physician Based (CCS‑P) Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
