• Conduct regular generative and evaluative research with internal operations users — including contextual inquiry, task analysis, and usability testing • Build a deep understanding of HealthSource workflows: how requests move through the system, where errors occur, and what slows teams down • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative signals (support ticket patterns, usage data, direct interviews) into clear problem definitions • Maintain and evolve a living view of the user, their mental models, and the operational context they work in • Own end-to-end design for HealthSource features — from early concepts through to polished, spec-ready deliverables • Create detailed interaction designs, flows, and prototypes that handle edge cases and error states, not just the happy path • Contribute to and enforce consistency within Datavant's design system, identifying components to standardize across products • Design for efficiency at volume — our ops users process hundreds of requests per day, so every friction point compounds • Balance short-term iterative improvements with longer-term systemic redesign opportunities • Partner closely with the HealthSource PM and engineering team throughout the product development cycle • Work directly with operations managers and specialists to validate designs early and often • Communicate design rationale clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders • Contribute to product strategy conversations — you'll be expected to have a perspective on what problems are worth solving and why • Coordinate with the broader design team on shared patterns, principles, and critique
