Role Description As a Mid-level Cloud Engineer, you will perform cloud and system administration while building, maintaining, and optimizing new and existing cloud-based systems. Duties and Responsibilities - Administer an existing Public Cloud environment – build, deploy and maintain servers and services in AWS - Administration of Linux and Windows servers - Manage Puppet controlled infrastructure - Develop and build new cloud-based systems running in a Public Cloud - Contribute to and propose further infrastructure automation initiatives - Investigate new cloud technology releases for suitability to improve platform - Prepare and maintain supporting documentation - Support and maintain production systems - Act with honesty, integrity, due skill, care and diligence and in the best interest of stakeholders and customers at all times - Contribute to the company’s customer-focused culture and be accountable for ensuring positive customer outcomes and responsible lending practices are adhered to - Deal with all legislative and regulatory bodies in an open, constructive and cooperative way - Identify potential key risk areas and compliance issues; reporting and escalating concerns appropriately - Take reasonable steps to prevent matters arising that would adversely affect the economic standing or reputation of the organisation Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related - At least 3 years of experience as a cloud engineer or similar; responsible for the following: - Developing and administering an AWS environment - Linux Server Administration - Configuration management (Puppet) - Experience with infrastructure as Code such as Cloudformation, Terraform, and Serverless - Experience with scripting languages such as Bash and Linux shell scripts - Automation experience, including familiarity with tools such as GitHub Actions and similar frameworks - Familiarity with database technologies such as AWS RDS and similar AWS-based database services - Experience administering Web Servers such as nginx or apache - Experience working in an Agile environment - Strong problem-solving mindset, with an ability to propose solutions, collaborate and get buy-in from stakeholders - Self-motivated with ability to work independently with minimal supervision - Assume responsibility for meeting project timelines - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) to build effective working relationships both internal and external to the organisation - Adopt a thorough approach to developing and testing systems with a high level of attention to detail and quality - Flexible approach to new challenges and implementing new ideas - Ability to prioritize tasks and communicate issues for resolution - Desire to learn new technologies and methods that can improve how we operate Advantageous Skills/Experience - Experience with Jira - Experience with calling AWS APIs - Experience with the software development technologies, such as: - Node.JS, Javascript - Web Services REST/JSON - API Testing Tools (Postman etc.) - Experience working with Continuous Integration Pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, Bamboo, AWS Code Pipeline)
