• Support financial and operational integration activities for mergers and acquisitions, including pre-close preparation and post-close execution. • Prepare, validate, and convert financial and operational data, including customer and vendor records, contracts, and historical balances. • Partner with Accounting, Finance, Technology, and Talent teams to support smooth integration of financial processes and systems. • Assist with Workday data setup and validation (e.g., company information, tax IDs, cost centers). • Review financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations to support accurate opening balance sheet entries. • Perform month-end close activities for U.S. entities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations under supervision. • Support intercompany accounting and balance sheet maintenance. • Assist with audit preparation by compiling schedules, documentation, and responding to inquiries. • Provide ad hoc support across accounts payable, expense reporting, and accounts receivable. • Support finance and accounting initiatives through project coordination, tracking deliverables, and following up with stakeholders. • Participate in cross-functional workstreams and integration meetings. • Contribute to process improvement efforts through research, data analysis, and recommendations to improve efficiency and controls. • Collaborate with teammates to support knowledge sharing, compliance with accounting policies, and a positive, professional team environment.
Job Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in general accounting functions (general ledger, journal entries, invoice processing, and/or payroll).
- 2+ years’ experience with financial accounting practices and procedures
- 1+ years basic auditing and financial compliance experience required
- Experience with ERP systems, including booking journal entries, running reports, and data integration/validation
- Experience with system implementations preferred
- Workday experience a plus

• Subject to the practices, policies, and standards within The Coral Company Team Member Handbook, the Property Accountant is responsible for the financial reporting needs of a portfolio of properties and projects, ensuring that all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting/risk management, team interaction & customer service functions are performed in an Accurate/Reviewed, & Timely manner. • As well as be efficient and effective on a daily basis with a constant view for the future performance of the team. • As a critical member of The Coral Company team, the Property Accountant shares responsibility for the team’s productivity, accuracy, efficiency, strategic problem solving, and customer service. • Performance is measured against the Company’s directive to “Only promise what you can deliver, and always deliver what you promise.” • Strategic partner with Property and Project Managers regarding financial planning, reporting, operating, and financial planning issues. • Meet the standard for customer centric service to Coral internal and external clients. • Accounting and financial reporting functions for all managed assets within the Property Accountant's portfolio. • Relationship manager with accounting & audit firms. • Mastery of our financial reporting software. • Closing of accounting records in computer system. • Filing of monthly accounting reports for all properties. • Accounting file maintenance – paid bills, accounting reports and bank reconciliation files. • General audit & cleanup of accounting records. • Issuance of monthly and yearend financial reporting package for all portfolio properties and clients. • Participate in annual operating and capital budget preparation for portfolio properties. • Financial covenant loan compliance at the property level. • Maintain a to-do list. • Responsiveness – sense of urgency. • Be an active contributor to the performance of the ART team, and seek best practices for the ART team.
• Assist with the preparation of federal taxable income calculations, supporting workpapers, and related schedules. • Support sales tax, excise tax, gross receipts tax, and other state and local tax filings across multiple jurisdictions. • Ensure proper tax treatment of cannabis-related transactions and stay ahead of evolving regulations. • Perform tax-related internal reviews to identify compliance risks, validate accuracy of filings, and ensure adequate documentation and controls. • Research federal, state, and local tax developments; prepare concise summaries and recommendations outlining compliance impacts and action items. • Assist in drafting tax position memos and internal documentation to support compliance positions, audits, and financial reporting conclusions. • Support tax provision calculations and audit requests by preparing schedules, reconciling data, and responding to auditor inquiries. • Assist with responding to federal, state, and local tax notices, including research, documentation gathering, and resolution tracking. • Work closely with finance, accounting, operations, and product teams to integrate tax requirements into business processes. • Lead and support tax-related initiatives, ensuring deadlines are met and new processes are implemented effectively.
• Contributing to Newsela’s month end close, financial reporting, internal controls process, and continued growth of our accounting operations. • Support accounting initiatives from start to finish, playing a hands-on role in areas such as accounts payable, accruals, fixed assets, software capitalization, and financial reporting. • Responsible for bank reconciliations, accounts payable processing and 1099 reporting. • Maintain expense reporting software, review expense reports, and assist in administering the credit card program. • Responsible for the accounting and reporting of fixed assets. • Preparation of monthly reconciliations and analysis of all balance sheet and income statement accounts. • Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks including journal entries, the preparation of work papers and other supporting documents. • Assist with the building out of internal controls by preparing process documents and identifying process improvements. • Assist with other ad hoc projects, and supporting the Finance and Payroll & Benefits functions as necessary.
