• Develop, scale, and maintain platforms and services which sustain several Cisco services and data platforms, including the flagship Meraki Dashboard product. • Design, build, ship, analyze, and maintain scalable, distributed, enterprise software solutions that support the services which record and consume telemetry data. • Build and maintain backend components using C++ in a Linux environment. • Focus on increasing reliability, performance, scalability, testability, maintainability, observability, and developer experience. • Work with various groups within Cisco to understand their and our customers’ data requirements and requests.

As part of one of our Data Platform teams, you will be responsible for building and evolving the core services and that power our data-ingestion products. This role involves architecting and delivering backend solutions that handle large-scale data processing, and integration with multiple services. You will work closely with product, infrastructure, and frontend teams to ensure that our systems are robust, efficient, and capable of supporting rapid product growth. Responsibilities - Design, build, and scale distributed backend systems that serve millions of users. - Drive end-to-end delivery of features: from design, implementation, deployment, and monitoring. - Architect real-time, low-latency APIs and backend services for large-scale data-ingestion. - Develop cloud-native services in Java, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability. - Work on infrastructure components, including AWS-based deployments, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes/ECS). - Ensure resiliency, fault tolerance, and compliance in high-throughput environments. - Collaborate with product managers, infrastructure engineers, and other teams to deliver production-ready systems. - Contribute to technical discussions, share knowledge, and help evolve best practices in backend and infra engineering. Qualifications - BSc/BEng or Master in Computer Science (or equivalent) - 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience - Proficient in Java (17+) - Experience with distributed data systems (e.g., Redis, Apache Kafka, SQL databases). - Proven experience designing and scaling backend systems for millions of users or high-throughput real-time services. - Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures (AWS or similar), containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes/ECS). - Strong background in high availability systems, failover, and resiliency design. - Curious mindset with an eagerness to learn and adapt - Excellent knowledge of observability practices: logging, monitoring, tracing, metrics. - Strong communication skills in English, able to explain complex technical topics clearly.
